STRENGTH in depth for Argyle Empty
PostSubject: STRENGTH in depth for Argyle   STRENGTH in depth for Argyle EmptyWed Nov 18, 2015 9:59 am

STRENGTH in depth for Argyle this season has been there in abundance for manager Derek Adams, which is thanks to a little bit more than simply squad rotation.
Despite missing three key players in their trip to York City on Saturday, the Greens put in one of their most impressive displays of the season in a 2-1 victory, with Derek's side once again thriving when forced to shuffle his pack.

"It was excellent," said Adams. "Over the 90 minutes, we could've scored more goals, but the main thing we're there for is to get the three points.

"We had a terrific following at York. They had to stand for 90 minutes in the rain, but they gave us a fantastic vocal support.

"People have got to remember that we've played without the likes of [Carl] McHugh, [Gary] Sawyer and Graham Carey in games this season. We've missed Jake Jervis. So we've got a good squad where people can come in and out. [Gregg] Wylde's been out of the team, [Craig] Tanner as well. From that point of view, I like the players that I've got in the squad and their attitudes.

"They're all ready to get that opportunity - and when they get that opportunity, they're there to try and keep the people that have been suspended or injured out."

That quality and determination throughout the squad has been an integral part of Argyle's table-topping form to start the season, as all members of the team are ready to step in and keep their opposition guessing.

"I think it's important that you have players who are capable of coming into a squad and doing well," said Adams.

"From my point of view, I rely on that. We've got a lot of good players in this squad. We've seen it this season, where players are injured or suspended, and people have come in, performed well, and been able to keep hold of their place. I think that's important.

"When you've got a tight squad, it's important that you have competition for places, and we're certainly gathering that now.

"We can play different players in different positions, and I think that's the beauty of the squad that we've got. We've played in a variety of different situations this season where teams will find it very difficult to guess what we're going to do."
