Think he played against us for Huddersfield and he looked a decent player (maybe 6 or 7 years ago). Another winger, this one I think I've seen (could have been a televised match), and he was impressive signed- well done Derek!
Just a decent CM to go.
Another 3 certainly maybe 4 especially When the worse kept secret in football o'connor finally is announced to have left. Why its taking so long beats me his contract has expired and he is no longer a pafc player. Dont forget we only have Cox as the only central midfielder in the squad and he cant sneeze without being out for a month.
i wonder if Del Bhey will kepp Smalley on given he has 6 strikers on the books and he isnt much of a winger.

Carey can play on the left or right side of midfield or as a striker. He is very direct at the full backs, a free kick and long throw specialist and his crossing has been described as "unbelievable" While at St Mirren, Carey was used as a left back and as a wing back on the left side.

finally a crosser
Bloody hell! He sounds like Superman.

It will be interesting to see how he plays them for me as both as left wingers by trade. Not that simple to say one will play on the right.

Left footer crosses inswinging from the right can be keepers nightmare - all in the rich tapestry of the game!! Take your point though, unconventional but I'm up for it - no problem with our Del yet!!

Looks like we have finally, 12 months after losing two key sources of midfield goals, decided to replace the cultured left foot of Conor Hourihane, and the free kick whizzkid Luke Young.
Praise the lord we may even see a long range goal from midfield again!

Where is the evidence that Graham Carey will be able to replace the goals that Hourihane has scored in the last two seasons, ie 9 for Argyle and 14 for Barnsley? His career record so far is 15 goals in about 160 games, which would average out at about 4 per season, just about the same ratio as free kick whizzkid Luke Young in fact. Not getting at the guy at all and his apparent ability to deliver set plays well is a very welcome strength but one spectacular swallow a summer does not make.

Hourihane is the Barnsley penalty taker, that's why he's got to 14 goals.
CH had a good goalscoring season or Argyle scoring 9 before he left - that's a reasonable goal target for Carey if he's played in attacking mid and takes free kick duties (and it is not like we have any dead ball specialists currently). We shall see.

This is the time for optimism and excitement. Plenty of time for doom and gloom later if the season goes pear shaped.

On the bright side we are able to attract freebies from teams with average crowds of over 3000 in Scotland. We must be pushing our wage bill to the maximum. Please go JB.

So had the player been playing for Celtic, who do average crowds of over 3000 in Scotland, you would still be a miserable old git. If you are trying to build your case based on ''freebies'' then you need to clarify what sort of player attracts a ''freebie'' tag. Players out of contract are not 'freebies'' they are 'unemployed' and therefore are available without a fee.

You won't find any Lionel Messi's at the dole office but you'll find plenty of Joe Cnuts.

A new week and the players will report back to school, hopefully one or two more signings to come also.

Looking at who we might sign next (from the Ross County released list) those who are midfielders and were signed by Adams-
Joe Cardle could be a possibility- Derek once described him as "an out and out winger... very creative and direct which will suit our style of play." ( [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] ). Despite being English he has spent the majority of his career in Scotland.
Terry Dunfield- 33 year old Candian International, who has played for a number of English teams in the North West (after starting at Man City) [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Benedict Frempah- 20 year old midfielder- doesn't look to have played much professionally- [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
If we need another RB, Steven Saunders might be a possibility (although Nelson could provide cover). 24 year old with 1 cap for Scotland https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steven_Saunders

Plus he seems to suggest that he can play in behind the strikers, part as a midfield 3 or even pairing. He's also played left back and left wing back, so plenty of versatility.

Exactly. Arjen Robben's done okay. Probably the most one-footed world-class player around, but it doesn't mean anyone can stop him.
