Be difficult to leave Ansah on the bench for the 2nd leg. Only one not afraid to test the rookie keeper.

Perhaps I was watching a different stream to some of you, but I didn't think we played badly in the first half and were unlucky to go in 2 down - the second was clearly handball and had Mellor had any inkling of where the goal was we could have been level. Terrible defending for the third and everything looked lost, heads were down we couldn't string 2 passes together, but as so often happens in football one bit of quality changed the whole game.
Great strike from Ansah, and Banton's was a bit fortunate but we're right back in this now.

you were indeed. We start off lively but went to pot after the 1st goal and handball or not no excuses for that poor defending. very poor game alroun it was just fortunate it took till he 83rd minute to shoot at the rookie keeper and we got two goals to take to london on thursday.

Heads dropped with the second. Ref is fortunate at a foreign ground he d have been pelted with objects and rightly so. Wycombe lost concentration at the end and if we win on thursday then it ll be the biggest comeback since lazarus.

Argyle didn't play badly at all in the first half and you're correct that the 2-0 scoreline was pretty harsh on the balance of play-the match hinged on Argyle's diabolical defending from free kicks all evening and an unbelievably bad refereeing decision for their second goal. Must admit though that the second half was disappointing and it was Wycombe in charge when you'd have thought that Argyle would be all out to get back into the tie, atrocious concentration for the third goal and that seemed to be that. Great strike from nowhere from Ansah and a slightly luckier one from Banton [thought both did very well when they came on, certainly food for thought for the return] brought Argyle right back into the tie-Wycombe are obvious favourites but at least it isn't a completely dead match, grateful for small mercies I suppose.

Best atmosphere at an Argyle game for donkeys years and certainly since QPR.
Surreal at 0-3 down and Bob Marley started reverberating around the ground.
1-3 and it got louder.
2-3 and it was nuts.
Never ever have I walked out of the ground having lost and still left with such a buzz.
Regardless of the outcome, that was a proper memorable night.

this saddens me greatly but its your opinion.
personally it was a shit game atmosphere died after the first goal as per usual with argyle fans only picked up near the end. I highly doubt most of the 14000 will be in a hurry to go back regardless of how the game ended.

I'd agree with that, but I'd take issue with the first half performance mentioned by others, I thought we made a bit of a effort but it was all a bit predictable, no real chances, the shoreline at half time said it all. Their keeper wasnt tested at all, their backs weren't ran at and our crosses weren't accurate, huff and puff.

If Argyle can score first on Thursday it will be an atmosphere to behold. I can't remember moving so quickly from ''totally pithed off'' to ''a happy(ish) chappie. We can do it.

I thought we play alright first half, but fell down with final ball and finishing O'Conner could had a hat trick from our set play where they scored theirs, the third goal the players were looking at the bench because two sub were to come own.
One down all to play for.
Row 20 were used by the family and friends of the club not for general sale.

I watched it on Sky.
In the first half we dominated possession and played some nice football but we took too long on the ball when we were in good positions. I think the stats at half time showed we had over 60% possession and 12 shots on goal but none on target. After the unjust second goal the Sky pundit praised our response and said we were still in the game. He also praised the excellent Wycombe defence.
The second half was shocking and it was clear that we had lost the plot. The Wycombe fans appeared to be far louder than us, but they were 3-0 up. The phone flash light thing looked wank but the atmosphere at the end was impressive.
All the pundits and Gareth Ainsworth said it had been a great game and a great atmosphere.

What was with the mobile phones. Like being at a Spandau Ballet concert when the first few chords of "true" are played.
I now understand it was something to do with Bob Marley and "Everything's going to be alright"
I don't know where to start with how camply sad that is. The annoying thing is that people will be presuming it was the phones and "spirit" which inspired the comeback and there will be a bunch of annoying tossers in front of me on Thursday singing Bob Marley and waving their phones in the air.
Do you reckon if you shove the phone up their arses really hard the flashlight will show every time they open their mouths?
What has football support turned into or have I morphed ever further into Victor Meldrew?

Start with Ansah and Banton on Thursday and we could still be rolling Wembley Way yet
Clear handball on 2nd but frankly Luke didnt have his best game. He was very lucky in 2nd half when a cross evaded all in the box which was clearly his for the taking. That would have been all over.

Praising the crowd is just bizarre. For 80-odd minutes the Devonport was quieter than a Womens Institute Tea Party. And as for that pathetic fecking flag that was passed round, the dipsticks who started it off did realise that the thing was back-to-front, didn't they? In fairness, though, the last 10 minutes were as raucous as any night I've experienced at Home Park - after Banton's goal went in the Lyndhurst was literally shaking; good job Barr built it to a high specification.
We're still in with a shout on Thursday, in fact the Wycombe fans were pretty disconsolate as they left the ground. A group of them said to me that they thought they'd lose at least 2-0, as 'we're shit at home'. We'll see

Yup. That's how it was.
That said when the Demport started signing "don't worry..." I was embarassed. It was horribly cringeworthy and to use two words that I don't think I ever have before (because I really don't like them one bit) it was "Aviva" and "village" jester-hatted twattedness to the nth degree but the crazy, illogical, undeniable truth is that it inspired, make no mistake about it, something magical and wonderful to happen and by the end I was bellowing Bob Marley with the best of 'em. OK so we lost but it really did feel like a win. And it still does the morning after.
At 0-3 I said to my mate "we'll nick a goal out of nowhere and then score with the last kick of the game". Which turned out to be far more accurate than even I expected at the time.
I can't get my head around what happened or how it happened at all. The last 5 minutes was like the bit in The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe when winter ended in Narnia, all the ice and snow suddenly melted and the (3 little) birds started to sing in the trees. (That is such a sad analogy but I can think of no other!)
We're only 1 down with 90 minutes to go. Whether we end up winning or not right now we are still in this one.
As for the rest of it... It don't really signify, do it?
However Gethin in midfield didn't work at all and we didn't even manage a worthy attempt at goal other than when McHugh punched it on to the cross bar. We barely even had a chance except for a couple of corners that found their way to the "Coughlan" position at the back post. Coughlan used to hit the target though.
Lots of tactical injuries and time-wasting from Wycombe all of which was unnecessary given the way they were lording it about Home Park for much of the match. A thoroughly despicable team. If we don't make it to Wembley I hope that them and Stevenage try to out-cheat each other in front of about 12000 people. Wankers the pair of 'em.
And... Oh yeah! "Getting fecked on the telly"? Let's hope that one's banked for Thursday if needed.

the phone light thing only works in the dark not in a slightly dimmed stand lol forza nerde try so hard to steal others ideas to pass of as football firsts but honestly when will they just stop trying to hijack argyle games on tele to pr themselves.
oh and if you didnt like bob marley before i gurantee you next season 3 little birds will be shoved down your throats like build me up buttercup was.

i sit in the devonport end far away from the forza nerde lot but last night was typical of them and the main core of fans. Lots of noise for 10 maybe 15 mins then they stop altogether wexcluding the sporadic chants here and there if argyle havent scored or if the other team have. Perk up again near halftime then the last ten minutes or so they start singing more.
last time till the 1st goal went in was as quiet as i have ever heard it go.

Buttercup was embarassing. It was imposed from above to mass indifference. Three Little Birds seemed to come from nowhere. If it was a plan it was a brilliantly executed one.
And yes. We're going to be hearing it forever now. Best get used to it.

Thought the entrance of the teams was utterly bizarre. People had those stupid bits of Green White and Black sheeting in the air, meaning that nobody could applaud the teams as they came out-it was just Semper playing, the Wycombe fans giving it beans and almost total silence from the Argyle fans on three sides of ground. If they're going to pull that stunt again [unnecessary anyway IMHO] then the timing needs to be a bit better next time.

Same here PP.
As for the final third, it's the same over here with the lower league teams. They try to pass the ball Barcelonaesque into the net or get to the goal line for the killer pass across goal instead of taking a shot.
