That's the thing though - Tranmere don't appear to be fighting for their lives. Some of their players appear to have given up. By all accounts most of their performances haven't just been bad in terms of mistakes but lacklustre and disinterested. I suppose the only danger might be that if they genuinely do believe the side is doomed they might be motivated to put in a performance to attract a League club. - Quote :

I don't think it would be quite so easy most of the time. At Home Park we were still suffering from the legacy of the Brazil trip - apart from the lack of a decent preseason as opposed to a showcase jolly, half the side were pole-axed with a tropical lurgy and/or injury. We didn't realise at the time but a lot of the side were forced to play when they should have been in bed or at the physio. Baldwin's baffling ineptitude against Reid was later explained when it turned out that Tis had to play him with a serious injury which immediately put him out for the entire season. Of course you were the better side but even then the result was flattering IMO. Even Sparks admitted that it should never have been a free-kick and that we had a nailed-on penalty when Sercombe was fouled before you had even scored. I though we were far more competitive at the end after Tis made some changes and had a number of good chances. The home game was just inept on our part, so even though we again had critical injuries I wouldn't try to excuse things on that score. However we've played vastly better than that this season. |

| T'is ever the case that a loss is the result of the own team's ineptitude than the opposition's superiority. I'm the same with Argyle. Carlisle fans no doubt are praising their team's grit, work ethic and excellent strategy while we whinge over our manager's tactical deficiencies and player's lack of commitment and effort. Rarely have I left Home Park after a loss (and there's been plenty) and just said, you know what we played fine, but they were better. Bury maybe, but I was picking out a lot of flaws from our game on that day. Draws are the only result which are commonly considered fair without a barrage of negative criticism flung in the direction of the management team or players.
Truth is Jabba, we feckin owned you - both times this season. We played you off the effing park, even with ten men. And I will revel in that, its about the only true joy this shadow of Argyle FC allows. |

In the away game, we were coasting your lot got a goal back and might of gone on to win the game. A pointless lunge on Lewi followed by an embarrassing attempt at dealing a high ball and that was it for you |

| Bury 0 Southend 1 FT
1. Burton 88 2. Shrewsbury 86 3. Wycombe 81 4. Southend 81 5. Bury 79 6. Stevenage 69 7. Plymouth 65 8. Luton 65 That is the result i wanted, as it means Southend still have a chance of going up in third.
Good result for Argyle, as it means Southend will be up for it when they play Luton on Saturday.

Too right it is. Let's hope the Argyle team turn up on Saturday when they entertain Tranmere and Southend stuff Luton. |

| Cant see Wycombe dropping anymore points which means Saarfend have to make up a 5 goal defecit. Looks to me like Saarfend in the play-offs for us.

| With a Southend fan last night and they haven't conceded a goal at home since October!! What price Luton 2 nil up after 12 minutes |

| Southend have obviously been more successful in grinding out results because they're 16 points ahead of us. But something positive Argyle can take from any possible playoff scenario is that over 44 games so far, we've conceded the exact same number of goals, and they've only scored two more than us. |
