Do Mansfield play school children in their first team. Read on

Boss issues rallying cry to supporters ahead of game with Plymouth Argyle.

Manager Paul Cox wants supporters to get behind the team from start to finish when we entertain Plymouth Argyle at One Call Stadium on Saturday.

The Pilgrims make the trip north unbeaten in seven league games and boast the tightest defence in the Football League, having shipped just nine goals so far this term.

It promises to be a tough game and at this morning’s press conference, our boss said: “There were instances on Tuesday night where there was a player who had tears in his eyes after the game [with Concord Rangers] – a young player who has got massive potential and you wonder where it’s all going to end."

“We’ve got some good Under 14s, 15s and 16s coming through, but I’m not going to put them in the first team if they keep getting booed. I’d rather leave them out and save the lads the embarrassment.

Anyway, back to the Mansfield Town encounter.

Argyle should get the three points here, they really should.

Mansfield Town are on a bit of a downer at the moment, so they are there for the taking.

I expect nothing but a resounding victory.

I think someone hack their chairman Facebook

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

I have just had a long discussion with Paul Cox around the future of Mansfield Town. As you know, the Stags is something which both Paul and I hold very close to our hearts. Unfortunately, as a result of those discussions, Paul and I have regrettably decided that it is the best interests of Mansfield Town and Paul if he should step down from his current role with immediate effect. Paul will therefore not be in charge of the team for tomorrow’s game and the search starts now for a new manager. I want to thank Paul for everything he has done for the Club and all that he has achieved. We wish him well in all that he does and want him to know that he will always be a welcome visitor in the Director’s box and we hope not to see him in the opposition dug out. Finally it remains for me to ask for all fans to unite behind the Club and whoever is the new manager to ensure that the team has the best chance of achieving the successes on the pitch that we all want.

If we're good enough for the top two or three, we should be winning this easily. 3-0 up at HT, and the chance to use the second half as a training exercise.

This is Plymouth Argyle, however.

I dont think it will be that clear cut 3-0 at half time. But i do agree if we are serious about going up this year then these sort of games we ought to win.

That is five changes to Mansfield's starting line-up from their 1-1 FA Cup draw at home to part-timers Concord Rangers on Tuesday.

Mansfield: Studer; Freeman, Tafazolli, Riley (c), Beevers; Clements, Sendles-White, Heslop; Taylor, Lambe, Oliver.
