Best Mans Speech

Anyone ever had to do one,

Im doing this in early May and have just starting writing the speech and have gone blank, Known the guy for 24 years and cant think of anything to write

It's been an emotional day. Even the cake's in tiers.

BOOM!

My mate told everybody that I was quite a good footballer and had recently had trials with Plymouth Argyle. Paul Sturrock had tried me in several different positions and found I was useless in all of them. He hoped that Julie would have better luck!!!!!!!

Try a story about how they met, any embarassing facts from childhood/teen years, throw in at least one good joke.

Depends massively on your captive audiences tolerance level for abuse (aimed obviously at the Groom). If you're not breaking any 'what happens in Vegas etc etc' confidences, then always go for a speech that trawls up as many embarrassments or indiscretions as you can possibly cram in. He's there to be shot at, but know where to draw the line. I did one where at the end everyone stood and I proposed a toast "To Paul & Emma!" Only problem was Paul had divorced psycho Emma two years previous and he was now marrying Claire.  

He thought it was brilliant. His new in-laws weren't that impressed, mind.

Been the best man 6 times now and always written the speech the night before after a few beers.

I do wonder where this forum is headed.
