Took a 2 hours walk through 5 parks from Hartley to the Brickfields to buy  grandstand ticket for the 350 annervsary of the Royal Marines, sold out all dates. Which is good, shows the support the people of Plymouth is giving to them

Bus to Paignton tomorrow, weather forecast very good, will spend the day there. I will see how Brent hotel is comlng on.

I see Brent moving in to Torquay Fleet street.

Great excitement in the last half hour or so.

Fire engine came along, sirens and lights going, turned into our street and stopped right outside. Neighbour's car has smoke leaking out of various orifices. Fire bobbies had to smash the window before putting the fire out sharpish and apparently finding what caused it - they showed something to the police officer who'd also turned up and said something about it not being suspicious. Lots of paperwork was done, fire engine departed, police officer did some more radioing and that and then went too. The car's now got crime scene tape wrapped round it.

Note to self: keep a low profile around said neighbour for a day or two. He's quite an angry young man, and will be well hacked off at the damage to his motor.

Flew home, tidied up the garden, cooked tea, cut the grass.

Drove from Snowdonia to Ashburton, had to take a detour to the first Severn Bridge to avoid traffic jams around junctions 22 & 24 on the M4.

Got up early, into work early, late for breakfast, late for lunch, late home for tea.

Got to bed about 6.30 after mates fiftieth birthday bash, had lie in, tea and bacon sandwich, feeling better now.

Went over the border for lunch, still a lot to do to repair Seaton beach wall and around the area of the cafe.

I was there a couple of weeks ago and I wondered if they might abandon the cafe, it's totally trashed. What gets me is that if that happened in the third world they would have swarmed all over it and had it back to normal in a few days. In the developed world it takes us months to make simple decisions.

Grand-children taken to school, bus to Newton Abbot via Totnes then on to Paington home around seven good day out.

A good day out yesterday, meet a nice couple from Dartington, Wife happy brought a bargain in Clark's shoe shop Newton Abbot. Next week going to walk from Dartington to Totnes. Might meet TCM?
