I'll just give it the Dorian Gray thing then. A better crowd than I expected, so that will please the club. And yes, the team can actually keep the opposition penned back into their own half for 5 minutes at a time these days, and they do have actual attempts on goal. But, that's a draw and a loss in a week at home, that's the reality still. Fans had better hope Banton isn't the only signing during the window. |

| We have improved from total dogshit, to a established top sixteen side, and to be fair to shezza he's did that with the unemployed and loans if we had a decent owner i think shezza would take this club up. still i'll shut up and be grateful. |

Yes lets concentrate on achieving the dizzy heights of mid table mediocrity. so depressing so predictable Wake me up when this nightmare is over. Don't worry Punchy, not long now, I've got a feeling that Jimmy is going to lead us to the promised land, we'll all feel much better then. |

| Argyle had a bagful of chances to win this match but the clinical finishing of Port Vale was the difference between the two teams.Argyle should really have gone in at HT leading by more than one goal but some wasteful finishing and final balls gave Vale a lifeline. They really stepped up the pace for the first 20 minutes of the second half and Argyle struggled to cope, you always had the sense that a goal or two was on the way and sure enough they arrived.Even then,Reid's penalty miss was a big turning point,i think Argyle could well have won against the 10 men and with the impetus very much in their favour.Alessandra's miss summed up [looked like a completely open goal from my angle] the difference between the teams and why Argyle have been knocked out.Nothing against Vassell but his presence in the team emphasised how thin the squad is and a couple of signings are imperative if Sheridan is to be given a realistic shot at the play offs this year.Amazed to hear the crowd as only 6400-where i sit [on the old Spion Kop] it seemed to be fuller than it's been for a long time [Torquay excepted],as was the Lyndhurst, even the Grandstand looked quite full.It wasn't just me,the people i gave a lift to afterwards thought the same, they actually missed the first goal becuase of the queues outside.Odd. |

| There was a team done for fiddling the match day takings a few years ago, I am not suggesting for one minute that a team owned by an ex banker would ever think of tax avoidance for one minute though. |

I was aware of it years ago when the turnstile wasn't allowed to fully click through or as a kid when two of us were encouraged to go through together. Though it's equally possible that the operator was pocketting the odd bit of money in that way. I haven't come across that for years though. Aren't the turnstiles calibrated to record people going through and so provide a record? |

| One of the most depressing things about tonight is that deep down i know that we will be nowhere near the play-offs come the end of the season, despite all the enforced enthusiasm on PASOTI season over and its not even February..very sad |

| Thanks for the welcome iggy, I have been lurking for a while, I thought the performance was very good, they showed a lot of spirit tonight, good game of football. Missed the first goal though, stuck outside with hundreds of others at the cash only. |

Thanks for your resume greenskin. I tend to trust your match comments from a football perspective We all know now that ST holders are counted as attending league matches when previously they weren't. I remember attending an evening game when Ridsdale was thought to have just introduced the different counting regime. The crowd was given as nearly 6,000 when it was as plain as a pike staff that only 4,000 odd were in the ground. May I suggest you have got used to the "over counting" of the last 3 years at league games and it was shown in stark contrast tonight with only people actually attending being counted. I know of a couple of friends who still do their estimation as they have always done, but then add a thousand these days to get nearer the published mark for league games. |

Fish and chip shop outfit. Very embarrassing to hear about that, when will this club ever learn. |

| That was the most enjoyable cup tie at Home Park in years! Argyle played quite well, especially in the first half. They were obviously playing to a plan with players running straight at the Vale defence or slipping balls through the defence for fast men to run on to. Reid had seen a hypnotist who had convinced him he was an Olympic sprinter. Hourihane spent a lot more time up front than I've ever seen him and was seen on three or four occasions blitzing through the Vale defence on to through balls and took his goal very well. He also got Argyle the penalty breaking again into the box. Argyle could easily have scored a couple more in the first half.
Vale came much more into it in the second half and took their goals well, showing their Div.1 status. Argyle still had chances, especially with missing the penalty and Alessandra missing a sitter at the end. The whole team deserve some credit for giving it a real go and it will be interesting to see if the tactic of breaking very quickly with players running with and without the ball is used more frequently. It certainly frightened the daylights out of Vale at times in the first half especially.
Although disappointing to lose, I left the ground with a greater feeling of optimism than I've had in years. There is a definite improvement on the pitch, how far that improvement will take the club remains to be seen. A couple more players of reasonable quality ( for this shite division) could be interesting. |

| Port Vale took all of their chances. I don't recall Jake Cole (who was not to blame for any of the goals) making a save. We didn't take all of ours.
We could have, should have, had this tie won at half-time.
It was a great game for a neutral to watch.
I'm both disappointed and not disappointed,
And 6400? Ha ha ha. There was a much bigger crowd than the 7000 on Saturday. |

Put 4 goals away v a side that may well be in the Championship next season. Deserved to win both matches. Don't worry, you've got your youth FA Cup to look forward to though, with your relegation dogfight. |
