Fair play to your open and reasonably positive response to yesterdays game but I'll believe Freathy is a good reader of the game and not on a wind up ehen he predicts the upward curve of results, because it will happen one day.
Yes one day. But not anytime soon, that's for sure! The downward trajectory may have temporarily and superficially bottomed out but there is absolutely ZERO sign of any fundamental improvment that will start the upward curve to get the club out of this god forsaken division and ultimately back where it belongs. Too many big things need to change. Mainly the ownership.

Completely agree.

I think Sheridan is working with his hands tied behind his back, no real support from B***t who seems content for us to wallow around at the lower reaches of the football league until he's made some dough from his development and can then wash his hands of us.

I thought both sides played very well and if you've have shown someone without knowing that it was two bottom half league two sides they'd have been gobsmacked.

The 3-5-2 worked really well and it's wrong to say it was all Pompey. Harvey, Reid (2), Nelson (2), and Hourihane all had excellent scoring chances aside from our goal and those are only the really good chances, there were others too. Pompey also had some great chances and a draw was a fair result between two sides who looked better than their position and played some attractive stuff.

However, in spite of doing well we are still in deep crap as far as the league table is concerned. We need to maintain this standard and if we do we'll get out of our current mess. That is however an enormous 'if'. We really need a win up at Hartlepool next week.

i watching the same game but i dont rate a striker for being difficult to deal with as thats their job. Its kind of the bare minimum of the requirement a striker has to have in his game. Also, all of that counts for nothing if you cant get shots on target or even play off the other striker your alongside.
OK then Mr Angry you are the manager. You have just taken off Reid who do you replace him with from the bench.
These are your choices
Cole, Blackman, Branston, Bencherif, Gurrieri.

On top of that what do those professionals know saying Reid had a good game. If only they had your insight heh!

Of course he's on a wind up but..................... the wind up is constantly delivered because the bigger picture at Home Park is still so appalling. Remember, it took years before anyone would listen to us and not 'trust in stapes'. The bigger picture now with the reluctant one and his jamboys, is doomed to failure too. Of course, Argyle will rise again one day[hopefully]with the right manager but it's likely to be some time yet and the club's undoubted potential has been dealt a mortal blow by the acceptance of the clusterfuck.
The blame for that sits totally at the door of Pasoti and its controllers. They, as the fans' biggest mouthpiece, gave their support and approval. We are now a 'Yeovil' with bells on:joker: ................. as predicted.
Plymouth in general seems to thrive on parochiality. Geddon janner !

Enjoy the ride !

I saw on Pasoti how they were going on about how much the Pompey fans enjoyed the fansfest experience blah, blah, blah and how it Pompey want to do something similar etc and Wozzer asks if there is a link to the Pompey forum where this conversation is taking place.

And here is that Pompey forum.

For every fan FESTER there will be ten normal people that can manage to make their own entertainment. I would frequent a DECENT supporters bar regularly at games but would have to be dragged kicking and screaming into a fanfest.

pompey would probably do a better job at their fanfests should they hold them. They might inject some originality rather than they same show each week with the same act.

Interesting that people on here so often stress how embarrassing it all is and that anyone with an ounce of sophistication would laugh at us/think us as weirdos and the actual Pompey fans disagree. Even about the janner song too. I think people on here can have a heightened sense of self awareness at times.

I think it's safe to say, the same sort of people - whichever team they support - would go to a fanfest in the style of Rick & Dave, and enjoy it. So the Pompey fans that went, are simply the equivalent to those frequenting the Taverners effort each home game.

Normal fans would rather be in the pub, I suspect.

Every club has a certain percentage of avivas(scarfers as we used to call them) who would find this type of cringefest appealing, it's just that some clubs have more than others.............geddon janner, grrreeeeen aaaarrrrrrrrmmy.

The Pompey fans also commented about how it's nearly all old codgers who go to the fansfests, except for young Sam and the ass-licker supreme Ollie the mod.

It's a worry really that there doesn't seem to be much of a next generation of Argyle fans coming through and whilst Argyle remain absolutely shit and with no prospect of going anywhere fast then that isn't going to change.

Youngsters want excitement to rival their X-Box experiences and what they watch on Sky every day now where you can watch brilliant football from all over the world at the touch of a button. Compare that to the utter crap served up at Home Park for the last 5 or 6 years, with a big dollop of two mulleted apologies for musicans/comedians and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

The "FES/FIL High Interest Family Enclosure" attracts about 20 people most games so that's not addressing the immediate issue and I doubt many teenagers are so turned on by the cheerleaders that they get out of bed, switch off porn hub and make their way down to Home Park to ogle the "beauties" on show.

The fansfest audience are on average pension age with the odd smattering of pillocks in their youth who don't feel safe in a ruffty tuffty pub so they join Mum and Dad adorning their home knitted Argyle scarf in the tent.

I'm being a bit cruel to get my point across but it is a worry and unless I've missed the Newell family soaring through the skies sometime today, the PL2 Crew isn't going to do it either unless the venture is supported in a major way by the club. It's a good idea to try and catch the youth but for me the best way would be to give schools free tickets on a regular basis for the least attractive games which would otherwise be more sparsely attended, let them have a walk around the stadium, meet the players etc. and generally given the red carpet treatment. That includes being excused the murals tour by Fatman and Robin.

If parents push their kids to join up for this venture and get them out of the bedroom, and perhaps have two players visiting local schools for an hour or two every week as well as giving the schools free tickets then it might lead to a few kids catching the bug like we all did.

Taking your kids to a fansfest where they're forced to sing along with the Janners song every week and watch wankers like Newell, Webb, Jameson et al pat themselves on the back for selling 10 Pasoti stickers is enough to put them off football for life and the danger is then they'll never go again.

The fansfest is in my opinion a brilliant initiative but the execution of it just doesn't interest me. I'd rather pull off my toe-nails with pliers and dip my bleeding toes in bleach before drinking the remaining liquid than go to the ones in their current form but that's personal taste. Same goes for the Directors Box treatment that turns on so many Argyle fans with designs on a silly hat and title, but it doesn't have to be that way. It could be targeted at a younger audience quite easily and Rick n Dave put out to grass where they should've gone in the early 80's along with Timmy Mallet and Mr Blobby.

Would it work now? Almost certainly not, but not much would while the club is where it is and with the hangers on who have pretty much free reign to wander round Home Park like they own the place. Get rid of these parasites, invest in the team and they will come, even if it's only to see the dentist Very Happy

It is one of nature's immutable laws that anything 'put on for teenagers' won't interest them in the slightest. As a teenager before matches, I was either playing football or falling out of bed in time to have something to eat and get to the ground. This sort of thing just isn't for young people on the whole.

I found the fans fest funny the couple of times I went and was impressed. I'm also impressed at how welcome opposing fans have been. But I certainly wouldn't want to go frequently. The whole point for me was banter with friends and that isn't easy at a fans fest. But each to his own.....

I'd have thought administration, staff working unpaid for a year, two relegations, three near misses, James Brent's asset striping of the club and the permenant restriction of capacity to 17,000 might just pip a group of fans having a laugh and raising money for the aforementioned staff.

Just saying, like.

No because I'm not so paranoid about what other fans think of us and I know how to indulge in a bit of gentle self-mocking of myself and my regional steryotype. It's the same reason I don't attribute all our ills to a sodding aviva advert too.
