Read between the lines, he said he hasn't been involved in a rival bid, which is correct because he hasn't. Unfortunately he wasn't asked whether he or a fellow guarantor had been in contact with Lombard regarding his position on the mortgage.

Of course Stapleton wants Brent over the line, the stadium is practically worthless without a football team in it. However its the unhelpful timing of it all that grates, Chris Webb has sucessfully smoked Stapleton out and deserves credit for that.

Whilst Stapleton deserves scorn for his previous piggy eyed greed, its Gill thats the villain of this piece, I've no sympathy for him whatsoever, he borrowed the 30K or so to get on the board and then made an eye watering profit when Kagami came on board, he then had the brass neck to say that we should have looked for other investment!

Right now he must be bricking it, he's even been speaking to MaCauley which smacks of utter desperation

It will be interesting to see if either party discredits the other. If Webb's rumour is untrue surely Staplc**t will take legal action. Conversely if Stapleton is involved then the 'evidence' Webb holds should be made public?

Of the two I would be more inclined to believe Webb, but as the "funny hand shaking" (Tm IJN) Daz argues, it would be nice to see evidence.

I have just wasted 10 minutes of my life reading the Stapes on Radio Devon thread. Chris Webb just doesn't get it. He expects people to follow him blindly. Anyone who questions that just gets abused. Even Pasoti mods are not immune at the moment, both Mark Pedlar and Daz have got both barrels recently. Daz then got a call from Naps who gave him the inside info (that the rest of us are not allowed to know). Now Daz is back onside again.

I understand that not everything can be revealed and some things must remain confidential. But however well meaning some people are, surely it is our right to question them, especially when their judgement of people has been so spectacularly wrong before.

ATD seems the only place of sanity in the world of Argyle at the moment.

Well, after all the dust has settled, it seems much has been made of something that was settled last week in the negotiation process. Why Webby was wound up by someone over something apparently already decided is anyone's guess ... probably all part of the divded Home Park and back of the grandstand. Still, happily, it looks like Brent's negotiating stance, coupled with him hopefully being the last chance saloon, may well have finally made the old local guard accept the hopelessness of their position... we shall see.

Still, if nothing else, it has woken Pasoti Trust up to the fact that direct action does work. even if it is still only the keyboard warrior variety of yesterday. What a pity they haven't had a best foot forward policy for the last 5 months, rather than drinking coffee, passively hoping for the money men not to have the money. The Trust could have supported Brent in the background, while Pasoti could have organised proper mass resistance, but that didn't happen for reasons only the protagonists know .... rivalry possibly ?

Amazing really. Peter Jones is now joining in with the bigging up of the radicalised Green Army and what they can achieve. Reading between the lines, he seems to be saying, 'What took you so long ?'
Most of us and the City fans, have only been telling them for months that they need to get angry instead of holding vigils, rattling buckets etc.

Better late than never I suppose. It took the Brighton fans to finally get through their thick skulls

As always, Chris' posts have been simply superb. The fan reaction in the last 24 hours has been immense.

I also believe the Brighton fans gave our supporters important impetus on September 24th. They came on these forums telling us we needed to be more direct, to stand up for what we want and fight for it. The FanFest and subsequent singing with the other fans at the match gave us a tantalising glimpse into a much more positive future for Argyle, one that I think many supporters are now so much more determined to achieve.

As said above, the fans united will never be defeated!

It would be nice to think so, but I suspect it's just more talk after a good day. One bit of bad news and there's often a rush for cover.

If Brent becomes the owner, just takes the profitable bit, and leaves the team to drop out of the league with a whimper, we'll see then how radical fans have become.

Although there's been some quality pish taking material over the past few days, all in all, the actions and "threats" have worked, my only real criticism is that it should have been done long, long ago instead of rattling buckets whilst heaping self praise on each other.

I hope that Webb really has been more militant because he feared for the club and not because he's cuddled up nicely with Brent, my fear is that he's out of the same pot as Newell.

Webb must place a huge distance between him and Brent ASAP or the Pasoti Trust risk becoming a Brent lapdog.

None of us have any information on just how much the previous encumbents have saved of their money under the Brent offer, but it is almost certainly, or perhaps hopefully, less than the original pre packers. All the interested pre pack parties now have all the knowledge they require through the Heaney deal. What's to stop the likes of Kagami or Gardner hooking up with some doughnut like Buttivant for a quick steal if P and A allow it. I still find it hard to believe the likes of Kagami/Abe is giving up totally on nearly £3m .... either he's got himself a good rescheduled deal for some of his money somehow or he really is a wealthy man who doesn't need the money.
