| Kind of a just back. As in just back home after a trip home to exchange presents and watch Argyle. The first thing was pleasurable the second not so much.
I've had the pleasure of watching both away and home games between these to teams. The main thing I can say is that between October and now is how far we had gone backwards or more precisely side to side ways.
If I remember correctly before the away draw is when Fletcher was waxing lyrical about his passing on the ground football style. Well the apparent end point of Fletcher revolution/evolution is tippy tappy short sideways (or sometimes turn right around and tippy tap it backwards) passing. No urgency, no speed of thought, no fleetness of foot. Today was dull dull dull. Pedestrian almost sedentary.
It's harsh to pick on individual players as the whole team, nay, whole squad seems to have been coached into ineptitude. I still believe there is a decent League Two side in there somewhere but Fletcher and his non existent touch line persona is never ever going to get the best out of the players at his disposal. For this reason alone he should not be let lose in the Janauary sales to pick anymore players to ruin.
My own eyes metaphorically boycotted the game in sheer disbelief today. Anyone that sees green shoots under Fletchers custodianship is deluded. |

My own eyes metaphorically boycotted the game in sheer disbelief today. Anyone that sees green shoots under Fletchers custodianship is deluded. Found myself nodding to a lot of that. Against Torquay particularly after the break there was urgency, speed of thought and even a little fleetness of foot imo. Only trouble is, the only times we've had performances to fit that description is probably Torquay home second half, Chesterfield home for the first hour or so, Rochdale home, Northampton home for the second half and that's about it all season. And maybe today for the first 10 until they scored. Either way, it's too much approach play and not enough punch. The large majority of games have been largely like today as you said, no urgency, attacking play getting into the right positions or bright ideas/quick thinking. |
