I had pork loin with fried mushrooms & beans tonight.

I also prepared my meal for tomorrow - kidneys & mushrooms in a herby tomato sauce - which I shall eat on pasta.

I'm eating more meat based meals recently.

Less than 24 hours & I'll be watching the new Bond film.

Can't contain my excitement..... Have been forcing my two young boys to watch numerous 007 documentaries & old films for some weeks now. They WILL enjoy Skyfall.

£40 !!! you can't get a dentist around here to look in your mouth for that...a check up and clean cost £85....and that is assuming that you don't need any work done.....If you do you need to save up and go back in a couple of months......tempted to run my keys down the side of her big BMW on the way out.

I like stew. Its a great way of using up whatever veg is hanging around so it is economical and very healthy. I usually cook it in a pressure cooker because it is quicker. Unfortunately I always seem to get some a bit burnt and stuck to the bottom (what am I doing wrong?) but as long as I don't scrape too vigorously when dishing it up nobody notices.

Brown bits stuck to the bottom? Aah, I used to have that problem, it's the water you are missing. I love mesditerranean style roast veg. Carrot, turnip(not swede), squash, courgette, onion, garlic cloves, red pepper etc. sprinkle with olive oil and rosemary, whack in the oven for 45 min to an hour and sprinkle with balsamic vinegar before serving.

I think we need a dedicated ATD cookery thread
..... another first in football.

Heavy quality pans are the answer. Keep an eye on that pesky pearl barley.

Invest in a slow cooker, that's the answer. Chuck all your ingredients in before you leave for work in the morning, cover with stock, and when you get home in the evening, stew's ready, just thicken with cornflour/Bisto.

If anyone wants any specific recipes, fire away I've got thousands from my Cheffing days, innit.

Agreed. Perhaps one of the people who's interested in cookery could start it Cool

Raining. I was going to take the small people swimming, but the four year old appears to have eaten her swimsuit. No point in going on a boat trip* in the rain. So we're going to see Hotel Transylvania instead.

(*Boat trip = Torpoint Ferry, up the top where the driver goes, there and back.)

We're going to Reel - the small people prefer it because it means going on a bus.

The bus is the real treat.

Used to take Grandchildren on Torpoint Ferry, Bus there and ride backwards and forwards till they tired of it, record is eight trips, stop at Devonport Park and bus back. Kept them amused and was economical. Going to bed we used to sing the Torpoint Ferry song.

A ride on a bus was a treat for my kids when they were little.

Last night, my eldest daughter got stranded about 4 miles from her home by the last bus at 7:30. The bus said it couldn't go any further as there was a road closure as well as a road accident. She eventually had to get a taxi. £7 - thank you very much!

I have an idea for you Andy as a aft board member how about an evening of cookery demos by one of plymouths celebrity chefs (one of the tanner brothers) and andy you could be there assistant. Split the money half to charity and half to aft coffers.

Just back from the cinema. If you have small people in your family ( I mean kids, not adults the size of Buster Phillips) I can thoroughly recommend Madagascar 3. Plenty to keep the kids entertained and plenty of clever references that will raise a laugh with the grown ups. 8/10

Indeed. Peggy was at Reel, accompanied by the four year old, the seven year old, and a sizeable bucket of popcorn, most of which was consumed by the four year old. (She told me this morning "I like my food", as if I needed telling. Bless.)

Hotel Transylvania wasn't at all bad, although why kids' films have to have teenage romance mush in them is beyond me. At least they remember there'll be adults there, too, and put in some good jokes and references for us.

In other news, the four year old then had a pasty for her dinner. And they've both had a nail varnish and lipstick session, which seems appropriate for Halloween.

I'm off to the cinema too & am now 4 hours away from watching the opening credits of Bond.

I am genuinely beside myself with excitement...

Oh, & boys 1 & 2, and wife and ole mum tagging along as well.

Went out to Tavy at lunchtime.

If it's possible to have a middle-class Pannier Market, I think they've cracked it.

Lots of well-spoken middle-aged women sitting behind stalls, drinking tea (from proper tea-cups) reading 'Good Housekeeping', whilst not looking the slightest bit interested in actually selling anything.

There was a watch-repair stall there called 'Roger the Watchman'.

.... I forgot to add that we're going to Cafe Rouge first.

I've got some vouchers on my iPhone.

Should I go for buy one meal get one for £2.50 OR 25% off the total food bill....?

Remember, 3 adults, 2 (voraciously appetited) children (so adults meals, I suspect). Main course only.

I think I should have stopped the cider a pint or two ago.
