Les, you’ve had a bit of success with bass ain’t ya? Have you fished generally in the Sound for them? I’ve never really targeted them want to have a crack at using some of these new fangled soft lures and weedless hooks a lot of people are banging on about, but I need to get a lure rod that will balance nicely with the lures probably first. Spring tides morning and evening the way to go? Also any tips for (top secret) marks would be gratefully received

Spring tides morning and evening the way to go? Also any tips for (top secret) marks would be gratefully received I got a nice bass lure rod at Liskeard Angling at the industrial estate on A30 recently called a never crack, carbon 9' lovely thing for about £60. As for tides I find south coast fishes best on low tides and north coast on high tides. |

Fished Beesands last night had two mackerel one of them 1lb plus put up a stonking fight. Saw Czarks seal but it didn't hang around. Fish very few and far between but lovely evening and woke up to watch dozens of dolphins feeding in the bay.

Must get out soon spent all morning cutting up a hoofing great deer with a mate of mine, freezers filled with steaks, stewing and mince well happy. Funny about the weather Les we all like overcast with a ripple but last year at Bude I had 18 Bass all keeping size (I only took two) day like today with a 10am high tide and looked like glass, if they are there they are there.

Had a big bag of Mackerel on spinner last night fished from about 8.30 until dark and at first was having fish about every ten casts later on was a fish a chuck, really decent sized fish with a few two pounders, bought ten home and was releasing them at the end, great sport on light tackle.

We were watching the big fire over Kingsbridge way saw in the news it's been burning for weeks. There was a handliner that I know from Cawsands out there he was in the tiderace streaming out past Penlee but Gannets were going in all over, plenty of fish about.
