| Take the 3 points lads and move on to the next game. We won 3 nil, yet could have scored 8 and Burton could have scored 5. I couldn't see us losing and our finishing was top drawer.
Onwards and upwards, though only one more place for us to move up and it will all be downhill |

| Standard (awful) first half. Then N'ton's thursday night exploits took their toll 2nd half. Does Nelson scoring mean Fletcher got it right playing him up front? Put it this way, if he hadn't scored and Fletch had brought him on to play up front having never scored EVER, whilst having three other attacking players on the bench, that would have been the most bizarre footballing decision ever by Fletcher. I know it sounds silly, because Nelson scored, but it is still a rediculous decision. Has he explained it in interviews? |

| It was a game of two halves. I don't think Northampton had one player in their squad below 6ft tall. We created some half chances in the first half when we played down the wing to feet, purse and Blanchard often hoofed the ball to little effect. The first goal was poor defending from purse and his fellow defenders. I'm not a fan of Fletch, but give him his due for this game, his tactics worked in the second half and impacted on the game. Griffiths had a major influence on our first goal by using his strength to hold the ball on the left, a good bit of skill and then played a decent ball to Bhasera whose low cross was superbly turned in by feeney. The build up to the second started through Griffiths who played a decent ball out to Macdonald on the right, who then crossed and a defender partially cleared to Griffiths whose positioning was excellent and he had a simple tap in from 6 yards to score his first league goal. Shortly after he sat on the floor and after a consultation on the sidelines was subbed. I was expecting one of the wingers to be brought on and Macdonald moved into the centre. No Nelson (who I don't think had scored before) was brought on and surprisingly the change worked. A great cross from ATD's Robbie Williams was te by a gazelle like Nelson, whose header looped over the keeper. Northampton brought on big Clive platt and a couple of others who were 6'2" or bigger and we struggled at corners and attacking throw ins. Purse made some outstanding blocks and looked injured at one point. Their seond came from a throw and two of our defenders falling in to each other to allow them to score with seconds remaining. It was hoped argyle would keep possession from the kick off, but they almost gifted Northampton a chance straight from the kick off. Cole - 6 - no chance for either goal, distribution poor at times. Berry- 6- comfortable in possession but he and purse need to work on their positioning Purse-7- poor distribution but some vital blocks Blanchard-6-did well against akinfenwa, struggled against platt Williams- 7 worked well with Bhasera on the left, defended ok PCH-7 - looked very dangerous and took players on. Subbed dueto hamstring? Injury Wotton - 5 - subbed at ht. Poor distribution and little impact on the game Young- 5 - as Wotton but wasn't subbed. Bhasera -8- MOM- great cross for feeneys goal and Argyle's attacking spark Hourihane -6- battled off the ball on occasions but put effort in. Feeney-7- struggled in the first, scored a great goal Griffiths- 7.5 - great cameo and looked good in the 15 minutes he played Nelson-7- did well up front and caused problems Macdonald-7- set up the second, looked a bit rusty but put in a lot of effort Carl fletcher-8- poor first half tactics, great subs and changes in second half FV- large periods of silence after a promising start 6 |

| Fireman Sam...well, well...the first quality I've seen for what seems many a long year at HP. A match winning cameo when he not only won a 50/50 ball but directed it superbly to Bas in space on the right to put it on a plate for Feeney. Then quick and accurate distribution to MacDonald on the left and instintive positioning to be in place to stroke home the rebound from the cross. Much more to this chap than goalscoring.
First half was just more of the same old, same old we've suffered, seemingly, for ever and for it to be turned around was delightful. |

| Griffiths has a calf strain, PCH tight hamstring.
Chadwick also ad a calf injury so wasn't fit for selection. |

| Options for Torquay pretty limited then if none of them recover. What with Feeney getting his statutory 2012/13 goal already, I'd go with a front pair of star strikers in Nelson and Robbie... |

Fletcher has said he brought on Nelson so they weren't left short at the back from set pieces. Obviously I've taken out the erms, ya knows and pauses. |

| so it was a fluke then that Nelson scored and not a masterful tactical decision,by fletcher who had spotted a weakness in northampton's game plan. |
