We already know he can knock them in against non-league teams, so doubt we would learn much if he played tonight. To be honest, his rep is probably improving even in his absence, given how the rest of the team seem to be performing against non-league opposition.

The real question is whether he can do it against better opposition, so it makes more sense for him to play in the two 'big boy' friendlies against Preston and Brum. They'll give us the best indication as to where we are - I fear that many of us are not going to be happy with the answer to that question.

In a fairly dark, twisted way I'm really enjoying the idiocy of the terminally tinted Argyle fans who keep coming out with the 'it's pre-season, nothing to worry about' line.

Don't they realise that it's pre-season for our opponents, too? The teams 4 leagues below us seem to be coping with pre-season friendlies a damn site better than we are.

Darren Purse at the very end to make it 2-1. Sounds utterly unconvincing and can't wait for Fletcher's insightful post match comments.
