| It all feels a bit Big society amateur night to me to me. Perhaps Harry's done a deal with the Jubilee security company and bused in a couple of threatened unemployed souls to do a bit of work experience. Don't laugh. According to someone else that I know at Levines, Knecht's corner shop, Home Park's going to be THE Big society hub for the South west... all to do with the lauded bucket culture and desire to save employers BIG money. |

This whole thread has been talking about Argyle you commie! Mind you it is debatable if Argyle constitutes football. Stick with it Mike and when the scrumpy has kicked in you might want to make a football related comment yourself for a change. Or then again you might just want to comment on being a forward thinking chap who doesn't need money or banks or any other material possessions and how you pay for your Argyle ticket with carrots and a churn of freshly pulled goats milk. |

I think that's very unfair, Thai. The people (I think it's two) who work in that department are such people.
More to the point, I'd lay serious odds that the Did You Know stuff wasn't written by anybody in that department. For starters, no communications professional puts out a three page news release (which is what it is), and besides, the style's all wrong. Compare it with the other bits of 'big news' and you'll see what I mean. Sorry if you think it's unfair Peggy, I do not know them and you do, but having read every post on here and over there it seems I am not alone in thinking this has been a P.R. disaster ( small scale ) How many times have the Communications or Media Dept made mistakes? If the Owner is happy with them, so be it, but would he be happy with the internet fan-base complaining so much on the two main Argyle Supporters sites about today's 'BIG ' news. Have you read the posts Peggy? It seems to have upset even some solid Green supporters like Green Sam or Ollieargyle for example, my point is, maybe Argyle should be dragged, screaming maybe, into the new modern hi-tech not high cost I.T. World. I believe I read some posters on here could hardly sleep last night as they awaited the news that Mr Webb 'suggested' should be coming today. |

| I think the problem is that we have a comic genius as a president that actually believes he has a greater ability to promote the club than those that are paid to.
It's only time before his ego demands that he takes up a position on the pitch but to be fair, he probably would do a better job. |

If Iwas in the communications department I would either be thinking, "Is he after my job?", "Can't he leave me to do my job and stop trying to do it for me?" or looking in the mirror and asking myself if I was doing my job properly as the President obviously feels I am not. Since when does any club president feel it necessary to comment on anything and everything within their football club? Since when has that been part of the role of a club president? Traditionally they blend in the background as a figurehead and keep completely out of the politics of the club. Our president did I remember say something along the lines of that one of his conditions for accepting the post was that he wanted to be able to speak on behalf of the fans if he thought there was anything wrong in the running of the club, but he has made the role a self publicity vehicle in my eyes with his constant pontificating on every subject imaginable. Oh, and of course he still has some very simple questions that need answering. I guess I could have got to the point much quicker Peggy, as you did. |

I think you hit upon something there, Swampy. It's only a couple of weeks since that IJN character was posting how happy he was that both main internet fan forums had raised money for sponsorships and it was now high time the commercial dept of the club started doing their job. Maybe the green bucket volunteer army would like to take over the REAL paid jobs at Corbett HQ. |

| If I were Churchill the nodding dog I'd now pen a speech on PASOTI reminding the faithful how lucky we are to have a club, that good news is genuinely around the corner, be positive, we are PAFC, the club which wouldn't die, we have to believe to retrieve, etc. ROAR |

| Said it before and say it again that Mr Webb should become Mr Webb once more. The sole job of the club President, if he has been plucked from the ranks of the faithful, should be that he works to unite the fanbase. He doesn't do that as far as I can see and his grand announcements or at least this one seem only to alienate the supporters from the club rather than draw them in. |

| Just relieved that I didn't know about the impending massive news story so I'm one of the few not disappointed by it's non-appearance. Was it another wind up by GreenAndy1881 or just The Pres and PAFC tripping over each others toes?

| He told everyone there would be an announcement, now he's telling us that the announcement was to tell us there will be an announcement about exciting news that will be announced sometime before the world ends....I think!
Yes, I know.................................... |

| Why dont you acknowledge just for once Mr President that yourself and the commercial dept at Harry Towers made a fundamental error in "sexing up" an announcement that brings absolutely nothing new to the table.
Todays activities were amateurish at best, especially given the mixed messages coming from the err y'know gaffer and Harry over the last week.
A shambles! |

Because I didn't know what the announcement was. All I knew was as much as everyone else - I.e the tweet. I knew it wasn't FV related because I would have been part of that. So again, what has this got to do with me?? |

| Ok without knowing the inner workings of the Argyle machine I will just have to take your word for that but here is another question for you. Have you told Mr Brent what an absolute cock up today's announcement about very little was? |

| Chris when you saw that there was going to be big news coming out of Argyle today, did it surprise you, and were you also disappointed with what it was? |

| Go on Jock .... pin him down into making any sort of statement that could be ever so slightly disappointed about the club whatsoever Not on yer life.... and hence the ongoing suspicion of so many online fans who have followed this joke of a soap opera from the start. |

| Let's be frank, we are all aware that if something like that had been posted and Webb didn't know about it he would have been straight on his conference cam to his gaffer. |

| I believe he has said that part of his reason for taking the job in the first place was that he would be in a position to state the supporters side. If he says nothing then once again this shows why people like me think he is non Presidential. If he says something but only in private then nobody but nobody will believe anything has been said at all. Chance for a public statement in support of the supporters here Mr President. |
