| Oh and also 'Shes like the wind' by Patrick Swayze. Maybe slightly an odd one, but I am a huge Patrick Swayze fan for his music and his films. |

Creepily, I've already had this subject nailed down with my other half, concerning funeral tunes...this deserves a thread on it's own. |

|
The Smiths-How Soon is Now Madness-Baggy Trousers
I happen to hate Morrissey with a passion, the Smiths were hugely overrated but that track is one of my all time favourites. |

| speaking of The Clash, does anybody else think the use of "London Calling" by BA in their olympics advert is amazingly apt? by which i mean as a song about a fascist, post apocalyptic london on the edge of sinking beneath the waves and an impending nuclear winter while everyone dies it is the perfect accompaniment to the olympics. |

| Just had a thought (yes I know that is strange in itself) about Block4green. Given his age now and his obvious liking for what for him is old music, what would I like if I was similar in liking old music before my time. Bing Crosby, Mario Lanza? Nope, it would have to be before that and somewhere in the 20's and 30's. I probably couldn't name more than a couple and would have to think hard even to do that.
The 80's and 90's were both rubbish and very forgetable. 60's led the way and 70's weren't to bad. Apart from middle of the road and Chirpy chirpy cheep cheep. I was onboard ship when that came out and it was No.1 all over Scandinavia where we were with the Ship's radio tuned into local. Every bloody day about 20 times that came on and we heard nothing but for weeks. Got back to Devonport and guess what. It was at No.1 in the UK and we had it for another several weeks. I hate that tune. |

| The 90's was a fantastic decade for electronic music. You may not like it but to right off the 90's as rubbish and forgettable is like writing of the 60's. The only reason the 90's is forgettable is because of spending too much time clubbing in Turnmills and Bagleys in London and some field somewhere in Hampshire. Alright! The 80's for me was all about Hip Hop and to a certain extent Guns and Roses. The later part of the 80's with the emergence of the dance era and Stone Roses and the rest of that scene was pretty good fun too.
Homeboy, Hippie and a funky dread - Total confusion....
Patrick Swayze, she's like the wind. Do me a favour! |

| Christ some of the 90's is hazy. Luckily, between my mates and I, we can fill in most the blanks. Ravers moved into the clubs, everyone loved each other in the early to mid 90's and life was really good fun. I look back at the 90's and really miss it. A lot.
The 80's was all about sport and being really shit around girls.

Hear hear. Most of the time I can pinpoint a song down to within a year either side, by remembering events I connected the song with. Anything from the 90's and I can be 5 years out either way and that's on a good day. |

| By the time 1980 arrived I was already 31 with 3 kids. I was either working, doing overtime for extra cash or working at home. That is probably why it is forgettable as far as I'm concerned. By the time 1990 arrived I was 41 and comatosed. The 60's were more my free and easy era which is why I remember it much more. |
