Shrewsbury Folk Festival... we go every year, non rip off prices, real musical talent on show for 4 days, and even the food & craft vans etc don't rip you off, and one hell of a hic real ale/cider beer tent hic All sold out Sandford. Sounds popular. I have heard great reports re: these festivals too,
http://www.bigsessionfestival.com/?cat_id=1&level=1 http://www.endoftheroadfestival.com/ http://www.efestivals.co.uk/festivals/swanageblues/2012sept/
This is the one we usually end the summer season with, just down the road in Cornwall http://www.cornishbluegrass.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&layout=blog&id=7&Itemid=101 Fabulous
But there is a festival somewhere every week; weekend of the year now, festivals are huge again now.
IMO a lot aren't worth the money they charge, Leeds, Reading, Glastonbury etc.. but there are a lot that are.
Check out the internet, I do it by County, starting in God's own county of Devon, you'll need Cornwall of course then work your way up & out, absolute shed load in Dorset alone to keep travel costs down etc... Cheers Sandford, I'll take a look. Going to the Volkswagen festival near Plymouth over the bake holiday weekend early June. Not sure the musics up to much as Rick o shay is in the cabaret tent, but should be good fun with all the campers and beetles. |

Been to the Wadebridge Folk Festival a few times. Good value. Usually good music. |

| Trowbridge Pump Festival, Jock! I was looking forward to a summer of cricket, training hard and playing hard but think I've broken the little finger on my right hand this evening. Catching a frickin' tennis ball! |

Vince Lee (probably in the form of Vince Lee and the Big Combo) usually plays that one, Jock, so you're guaranteed at least two brilliant sets. |

| Bit of golf for me, plenty of walks on the moors with Mrs PP and the dogs, some more golf, looking forward to meeting Greenskin on the course for the Sparkwell - Hurdwick match. Off to Edinburgh (Mrs PP wants to see the Pandas).
Then some more golf.
With a bit of cricket watching thrown in for good measure. |

As for me, camping in my van in Devon/Cornwall, fishing in my boat, barbecuing at home and away, surfing, traveling in France and Spain for a few weeks and I might have to do some work if I can fit it in. |

A pleasure jock. I've saved the best until last for you. It's my baby, held at Dartington, where I do my radio show from. Got some great acts there this year, including some of my personal favourites, we're talking The Dhol Foundation & Show Of Hands Both fabulous live acts that will keep you talking about them for years to come We've managed to keep the costs down, and some great reductions for those with families, free under 16's if booked with an adult ticket http://www.dartington.org/home We look forward to your company |

| Thanks Sandford again, and everybody else. I'm looking at them all now and trying to tie one in with whether my other half can get the time off. |

| Got tickets to see Justin Currie, the lead singer of Del Amitri, on Monday night in Bristol. Great singer/songwriter and The Fleece in Bristol is a really good venue for smaller gigs. Looking forward to it because it's not easy getting to see gigs now we've got the young un, thats why a festival would be ideal. |

I like the Fleece, saw Danger Danger & Budgie there in recent years I see you have the young un decked out in red (on your avatar), it's a good start for them, a very good start in life |

- Summer begins next weekend for us, 3 days at Swanage beer, & diesel gala... camping at Norden, then it's off to Swanage railway for a few preserved diesels, of classes '2 x 20, 1 x 27, 2 x 33, 1 x 42, 1 x 50, 1 x 55 & 1 x 57' , then it's off to Corfe Castle bakery, for a lovely breakfast bap. Then it's back to the railway for some more preserved diesels, until luncheon, then it's off to the 'The Fish Plaice' (you see what they did there?) for awseome Haddock & chips to be eaten by the sea front (weather permitting). Then back to the railway for some more preserved diesels, ensuring we're at Swanage station for the dining train (The Wessex Belle) at 7.30 pm, for 2 round trips whilst having 3 course dinner & a few ales on board. Then it's off at Harmans cross, for the real ale hic, festival, & live music, and if we get peckish, one of their awesome burgers & chips, until the last train back to Norden... Camp site is a 5 min stroll down in the morning and a 15 min stagger back at night, hic Rest of the summer will be camping, festivals, & diesel & or mixed traction (stinky steam, as well as dirty diesels) galas, with may be a few rail tours thrown in
Then it's a look forward to see which one of us (Argiggle or Super City) finish on top, within the bottom 8... Reckon you may do it on goal difference, if we still have the Klown Krysiac in goal
Well, that didn't go quite to plan... 1 due to all the heavy rain the camp site was a wash out, so couldn't camp, which in effect had the knock on effect, 2 only went for the day (Saturday) long drive down & back so had to leave at 6 ish... 3 due to an engine blowing up bringing some of the visiting loco's down, the 2 x 20's the Warship & the deltic didn't make the event 4 no beer festival for us this year, due to having to drive home. was still a good day out though, the Haddock was 1st class as always, the breakfast from the bakery also, and it was a stop off on the way home for a full on Chinese take away Next up for us then, the start of our 2 week hols 15/06 down to the WSR for their 3 day mixed traction event, dirty diesels & stinky steam |
