Trego smashed Morkel about in the warm-up at Taunton, he hit six 4s in an over from him. Not sure how comfy he'd be away from Taunton mind. That seems to be a peculiarly 'Somerset' thing - over the years they've had a lot of players who were terrific at Taunton, and whilst playing for Somerset, but couldn't, or wouldn't, reproduce that form on a national stage. Going back in time, the likes of Denning, Dredge and Popplewell all had it in them to play at a higher level; the late and much-missed Peter Roebuck should undoubtedly have played for England, and even in more recent times Mark Lathwell, who has to rank as one of the most talented batsmen I've ever seen, clammed up and just didn't perform when selected for England, but played like Bradman at times for the cider county. I used to love watching Mark Lathwell bat at Somerset, saw him play for Braunton at Peverell Park a few years ago and didn't recognise him,he'd put on so much weight.Unfulfilled talent but he didn't really want to play for England according to Atherton, couldn't handle the spotlight and was pitched into a terrible England side far too young.Just adding to the list above, there was also Harold Gimblett, who played for Somerset and England back in the thirties and whose career was almost a carbon copy of Lathwell's; [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] |

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] And his life ended, as did Roebuck's, by his own hand. Two deep and complex characters who never fulfilled their undoubted talents. Such tragedies, and such a waste. |

| Ian Blackwell was or is another who looked like a world beater at taunton but didn't do it for England. Has masses of ability and still does well for Durham but not to the standard he should produce.
Another fat fucker as well.
James Hildreth is another I thought would play for England, still young enough to, but never seems to get a mention. |

| Big wicket for Anderson picking up Smith.
I don't think we've bowled as well as the commentators made out. 6 big wickets to go and then we're into the tail! |

| Two wickets for Finn in an over! Makes the morning session a big one for England! |

| Pretty sure that we wrote the laws of cricket, so if we need them tweaked to get us wickets like Kallis', then so be it!
56-4, Finn on fire. |

| The Kallis decision was very poor but there's no point playing at the home of cricket if you don't get a home decision. Here's hoping for a cracking afternoon session and England batting by tea. |

| I missed the Kallis dismissal, well all of the morning play except for the last over, so what happened?
I saw Broads last ball before lunch and if it keeps doing that we could be in by tea. |

I didn't realise that wasn't out. Shows how much us Jocks know about cricket. |

| I think Kasprowicz was given out similarly to Harmison during the 2005 Ashes, but it's not something which crops up often, and unless you're using TV replays is almost impossible to pick up. Of course the Kasp decision was unavoidable, but the 3rd Ump has had a bit of a shocker there as there was no reason to over-turn the decision based on the evidence. |

| I don't like Kallis anyway. He's got thin lips, and has to force a smile, they're always smarmy gits. He's not a team player either. |

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] It's a good read Mock. I've left a comment on the redheads XI, but it's awaiting moderation. You left out David Bairstow who was a right duracell, but tragically killed himself. Not because he was ginger though, well I don't think that helped but it wasn't the main reason. |

| Ta jock, I'll have a play so I dont have to moderate comments.
BTW is it 'plumb' or 'plum'? Either way, De Villiers is saved by a matter of millimetres. |
