Plymouth Argyle’s Morgan Whittaker is attracting growing interest and an Atalanta scout watched him against Huddersfield Town, as per the Mail’s transfer confidential.

Plymouth Argyle’s move to bring Whittaker back in the summer looked to be a popular signing, and he’s been a huge hit in his second spell at Home Park. The forward has 15 goals and six assists in 27 games across all competitions.

His most recent strike came in the 1-1 draw with Huddersfield Town at the weekend. Now, it has emerged that there were some interested spectators at the John Smith’s Stadium.

As revealed in the The Mail’s Transfer Confidential, Atalanta sent English scout Mick Doherty to watch the game. It is also added that he has been  attracting ‘plenty of interest’ from top-flight clubs and some of Plymouth Argyle’s Championship rivals, though none are named aside from recent onlookers Atalanta.

CEO Andrew Parkinson insisted last week that no approaches had been made for Whittaker, but time will tell if that remains the case.

T. Wright gone back to Bradford on loan. Not getting game time here so makes sense.

absolutely hopefully he makes full use of that loan back there and comes back in the summer better and more ready to stake a claim for the first team. Earley and Waine would benefit from a loan away too.

These obviously will be expecting to pick up an exceptional player at this level for a pittance just because it's little 'ol Argo Rolling Eyes

Tyreik will do well there I think. He was a firm favourite with fans there.

Also, agree Waine would benefit from a loan but Earley we need here.

"The Bantams are said to be paying a sizeable portion of his hefty Plymouth wages. He is contracted to Argyle for another 18 months, with the option of another year, meaning it remains ambitious to hope City can make the deal permanent. But if all goes well, who knows?"

Not sure we are paying "Hefty" wages, but good to see it's some more ££ off the wage bill.

we didn’t get even get enough players in in summer let alone January it don’t matter what time of the year it is for us lol
We were 3 players short then knowingly chose not to address it they were hoping all the jizzyness & euphoria surrounding Whittaker & mumba re-signing nobody would notice we where at least 3 bodies short

i still don't understand why we bought Hazard despite him being a decent keeper who is shite with distribution and communication but decent everywhere else, especially for a fee when goalkeeper position wasn't in dire need of being strengthen. It was in this case wiser to have had a loan deal seeing he was 4th choice at Celtic so no danger of that being an issue with a view to a perm deal considering Cooper was coming back and we still had Burton in backup. We needed a striker as we lost 3 (Ennis left, Jephcott wasnt coming back and Cosgrove returned to birmingham) and a defender more and we wasted money here.

If £3m was our summer transfer budget on new players and we spent £2m on 2 players and wont increase on that in January to sign players like Azaz who was a key player despite what grovey claims and will be a miss in this team and/or fund the signing of players again upfront or in defence especially as the other teams around us also have new managers and are strengthening their squads in january so we need to too its not a good sign for me.
If the board can find £11 million to build a training centre for kids and the women's team that has no benefit for the first team at all it shows where the board priorities lie if this made money i could understand it more but it wont certainly not on the level to warrant the investment.

How much does a fanzone area, 5 a side pitches and a training centre of the women and children bring in to be worth building instead of the corner stands and cash in on the ticket demand while its hot and keeping a team in the 2nd tier of the football pyramid.

absolutely agree with you it’s about the here & now and trying to keep us in this league cos we do get relegated I can’t see us coming back up anytime soon the way there investing cos it certainly ain’t on the pitch and that 11 million brickfields so called project wouldn’t benifit the club for at least 5 to 7 years if any youth did come through it if any like the other bit of land they had bought up at goals they have just invested in brand new bar and seems there running that as a inderpendent buisness I’ve noticed as well as you say there priority’s seem to be everywhere else except on the pitch and really trying to keep us in this division .im a great believer you do it on the pitch and successful all that other shit follows on at the end of the day we’re suppose to be a football club first & foremost not some property vehicle

Can someone clarify when Dewsnip said he had got us a top quality U20's coach, was he referring to an age group or the squad size?

Regarding Angers question about the keeper situation well this is my take on it.
As we all know coopers was due to be sold in the summer with norwich & Bournemouth in the running for him but it went tits up on em for big money move ..so they bought Hazzard along with burton as cover while he was out injured the then the plan was to rush him back quicker than they should to reserect the big money deal for him in January transfer window but that backfired as well cause he relapsed or got a new injury due to rushing him so they could get there big money for him ..hence why we now have 3 keepers cooper wernt meant to still be here ..well that’s my take on it

true.

clubs however arent going to rush in for him now due to his knee injury regardless to whether he was back playing as you dont recover fully that quick from acl tear's and they certainly wont be bidding the kind of money we could have gotten for him before that ACL Tear now hes has another knee injury to the other knee (mcl) thats put him out of action for a few months.

He's going to be here a little while longer maybe another season if he stays injury free that season maybe a club will take a gamble. If the club as you say and i dont disagree as they where actively trying to cash in on Cooper signed Hazard with the intention of selling Cooper in jan they arent buisness smart at the club for reason ive already said.

Alfie Devine who was on loan at port vale was recalled by Tottenham last night and is highly rumoured to becoming here today on loan instead.

Naturally hes under 20 and worked with Ian when he was in the schoolboy groups of England and i guess thats all that's required now in order to come here. Cause experience, ability right now and permanent signings are not required for a championship team over cheap temp loans for kids hoping they make the grade before they go off in the summer.

Alfie is an attacking midfielder.

Just to add, there is I guess a tiny spec of positive news in that having multiple Prem teams in for him will create an auction.

If he’s going, get it done NOW - and give Foster a warchest to gather reinforcements before the end of the month.

but not our player and there lies the problem with us heavily relying on loans and hoping these kids we are bringing in that worked with the head coach for a week at a time when they had a game due for england schoolboy groups can make the grade of the championship now as we need to strengthen our squad in order to help us stay up and not keep going for the cheap option with loans cause our plan a sell cooper fell through and the board refuse to fund a transfer kitty as a result.

even if they sold Whittaker this window which knowing them they would accept a bid on the last day and leave themselves no time to bring in a replacement hence none of the money minus the sell on fee swansea have gets spent and hallet will bullshit us all into saying their will be funds available for transfers in february.

oh there is another signing coming any minute now......

Matthew Sorinola  on a free transfer last played for Union Saint-Gilloise. in Belgium. He breaks out from the pack as he didnt play for Ian in the england school boy ranks and is a wingback who had a loan spell at swansea last season.

So to date we need  (2 loan spots remaining)

1 defender to replace Gilesphrey.

1 defensive midfielder to replace warrington

1 striker cause we need one.

Well this Sorinola guy is a little bit more encouraging. Permanent signing and actually has some Championship experience, albeit not a great deal; about 25 matches. Still reeks a bit of scraping aorund the bargain bin.

Warrington Gilesphrey and Tyreik hardly got a game this season, nobody's going to sign 2 or three players who might only get a game apiece.
