| Has Schumacher and Swansea boss Russell Martin in the running to be the next manager at St Mary's. Link - from link wrote:
- Southampton have shortlisted Swansea boss Russell Martin and Plymouth’s Steven Schumacher as potential managerial candidates, talkSPORT understands.
Sporting director Rasmus Ankersen and incoming director of football Jason Wilcox will lead the search for a successor for interim-boss Ruben Selles.
The Saints have been without a permanent head coach since they sacked Nathan Jones on February 12.
Jones was already the club’s second manager of the season, replacing Ralph Hasenhuttl who departed in November.
Despite the three coaching changes, little has been seen in terms of improvements on the pitch, with Southampton currently six points adrift at the bottom of the Premier League table.
The south coast side could end their 11-year top flight stay as early as this weekend with defeat to Fulham.
Future planning is being made, though, with two EFL candidates in-line.
Plymouth’s Schumacher has taken his side back to the second tier with a 101-point season in League One, while Martin finished 10th in the Championship with Swansea, but has been applauded for his style of football. funny season begins already lol. |

| Last Argyle Manager to join Southampton lasted less than six months-and most of that was the close season. |

| Wouldn't touch Southampton with a barge pole if i was Schuey. Money wise would be very lucrative but career wise very risky-some of the snobbiest, most entitled, up their own arse fans in Christendom at that club, they'd soon drive him out just as they did Jones. Only got to look at their fans website for confirmation. |

Don't think it works like that though. He will triple if not quadruple his salary and he will have a gargantuan playing budget enabling him to easily attract pretty much any player from the Championship down. Southampton have an incredible set up with their academy and training facilities. Managers will be queuing up just to be considered for the shortlist. If they come in for Schuey, which is highly probable, we won't see him for dust. I hope Hallett has a list of replacements ready to go because the board will very likely need to do some very speedy recruiting. But the replacement will need to be happy taking over a VERY depleted squad, have a tiny budget compared to the rest of the division and be happy to accept relegation. |

Of course he would be on a load more money at that club and indeed they will have a bigger budget with a better set up built up over a period of 60 years. What i'm saying is that if he wasn't an immediate success there then the support would very soon turn on him big time,as they did with Jones-they weren't exactly patient with Sturrock there even though his record wasn't actually that bad. Schuey's career would be on the downswing from there-can't manage a big club, can't manage in the championship etc-and would almost certainly not get an opportunity again to manage a club of similar size or status. I would be astonished if Southampton were interested in him anyway after what happened with Jones and they'll almost certainly go for an experienced "name " manager but if they did then Schuey would be well advised in the long term imho to bide his time and wait for a club which would suit him better-if i were to name an ideal club it would be someone like Bristol City or Cardiff to name but two, hurtful though it is to say it. |

I read the article the below and it did not come across like, he was being honest about the budget. He knows Argyle will not have a huge budget for next season and will work with what he has got. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

| I meant Schuey would not be concerned about not being a success there and ending up like Nathan Jones. The chance of managing such a big name club would far outweigh any such concerns and would be risk well worth taking. And if he did take them back up, which is very possible, then he really has made the big time in management. I really hope they do go for a more experienced 'name' manager but I'm fully expecting Southampton to make an approach to speak to him. |

| Whether we like it or not financial security is at the top of most people's list and Shuey has every right to cash in. He hasn't been polite about budgets for no reason, his stock is high and he knows it and fair play to him. Even our top out of contract players aren't in a rush to re-sign. New Owner same ol' Argo. |

schuey wont be on their radar just yet! bigger clubs will be taking notice of him yes for sure after what he has achieved here in his first full season. i feel if they were to make a move for him or another club for that matter they will wait to see how we do first when the season starts as an idea of how he would cope in this league and with higher expectations Lots of managers will be sacked or move on after the season starts so their will be plenty of clubs who will be looking at him when the time comes. Schuey is smart and he will leave us but unlike Lowe wont do it at the first opportunity, the club has to be the right one for him. who knows he might even replace lowe at preston and then how silly will the ryan lowe song be when sung next season lol |

| Shuey would need to get a good number of tip top Championship seasons under his belt before even considering a move elsewhere. He knows his job is safe should Argyle get relegated next season.
The Southampton job would be a huge step up for the young gaffer and if it went wrong there, he would soon find himself out of work.
He will leave Argyle for bigger and better things one day, at the moment though, he is learning his trade here and all we can do is back him. |

| If Southampton want Schuey he will be gone. Hopefully the Saints Board will listen to their fans who seem to want an experienced 'name' manager and not a lower league rookie. McKenna isn't on the Saints short list because, unlike Argo, Ipswich are not just there for the picking. |

Oh I don’t know about that, 500k for a crock was Argyle’s best ever bit of transfer business. |

Be a hugely, huge gamble for Southampton in hiring a rookie who has basically only League One And League Two knowledge. He does not have that Championship experience in him yet. A sprinkling of seasons learning his craft in that division - with Argyle at that - and it could be a different story. Argyle could well get relegated next season and then the heat would be off him, then we go again in the following season. Southampton would be more likely to go for a more experienced gaffer with at least Premier League and/or Championship know-how to claw them back up at the first attempt. They will have parachute payments to play and that gives them an unfair advantage. But, hey what do I know ? |

Be f*cking odd if there wasn't speculation linking the Manager to lots of jobs.
But most ambitious Clubs go for a foreigner (or like Posh, rehire the guy you sacked a couple of years ago.)

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Favourite according to some bookie. When you look at the second favourite and see it's Steve Cotterill that tells you all you need to know. |

| Well we'd better hope there's nothing in it and Swansea are looking elsewhere because if they do make an approach he's definitely gone. I hear Argo fans spout all this nonsense about how he loves it here and would only leave for Everton etc etc. I'm sure he does love it here but he would love it more at Swansea with triple the salary and at least triple the playing budget. |
