Are they in financial mire or simply just selling their best players for the money? I feel for their fans either way as i remember the dreaded january of 2009 when our club ripped through our talented squad and replaced them with cheap and cheerful players.

They're just a Prem version of Crewe, that's all. They nurture and produce the talent, which then naturally leads to the big boys coming in for them. Realistically they'll never be able to hang on to them so they'll always leave. It's just a coincidence that a golden age have come together over the same period.

Southampton's stars have outgrown the size and ability of the club to give them what they need.

Too successful youth set-up .......if that is possible.....but more in the pipe-line it seems.

Will they spend all those millions on players or facilities.....interesting one that.

Other than Ricky Lambert I think every one of them was overpriced, I expect to see Koeman raid some of his old haunts and come up with a decent squad come the end of the window, at bargain prices, whether that will be enough to keep them up will remain to be seen. I think there could be as many as ten teams involved in the scrap to avoid the drop, Southampton will most likely be one of them, but early signs are that the 'Big Four' have strengthened and morphed into a 'Big Five' plus Everton and maybe Spurs, none of the rest appear to have done much so the usual suspects will be battling to keep their noses in the trough.
