| Has passed away aged 89 according to Facebook/PASOTI. One of the very best Argyle managers who got the club promotion and backed it up with a couple of good seasons in the second division and could well have taken it a step further with a bit more backing. Certainly the most extrovert manager in my time and expert at establishing relationships with the fans. Had a successful spell at Torquay later and ran coaching classes for kids in the Plymouth area after retiring out of pro football. Another memorable figure bites the dust and i hope the club pay due tribute to him in the midst of the more national issues taking place.
RIP Ciderman |

| Sad news indeed.
That 85-86 season easily ranks as my most memorable, with some truly epic away days.
RIP to a true PAFC legend. |

| Fond memories of Smithy. Especially the early 80's and the 85-86 promotion season. I remembering the Brizzle game. 4-0 or 4-1, can't quite remember. I clambered over the Colditz-esque fencing to run onto the pitch, only to fall like a bag of shite into the concrete gutter, shattering my Elbow. Instead of going to A+E, I went to the Cheery Tree where my parents were temp landlords, for free beer and and celebrations - then to A+E RIP Dave Smith. |

| RIP. Epic days indeed, Brizzle home being a pinnacle but that 1st season in Div 2 was epic, the 6-3 over Leeds and 6-0 over Huddersfield, scoring for fun was my memories. If only... |

| never got to experience his reign as manager given i was a wee thing at the time but i can recount many stories of the 85-86 season under Dave Smith told over the years. It seems like it was a good time to be a green.
I'm sure the club will honor him rightly tuesday alongside the queen tributes. RIP Dave |

| Those days beat the family day experience hands down, I loved it, there was proper atmosphere and it was a lot more relaxed in a lot of ways as in you'd walk in a turnstile at one end pay some cash and maybe come back out the other end after the match. Jumpers for goal posts ECT. ECT. |
