Been announced in the last couple of hours this evening, the totally unique Mark E Smith founder member and singer of The Fall has died after a year of ill health aged 60.
Famously John Peels favourite band describing them as "always different always the same".
As a fan from hearing and buying their first single in 1978 to watching them in London last January I am absolutely gutted, one of the most influential bands and personalities in modern music.
The world has suddenly become a less interesting place.

One of those bands you either got or did not.

Very hard to be neutral about The Fall.

RIP, fella.

great music, couldn't square away his support for Thatcher and 'challenging' views on immigrants.

Feck me I missed this one massive fan of the Fall and saw them many times. I just loved their discordant out of key and just plain weird tunes. Have to dig some vinyl out and give them a blast.
