The EFL has announced Friday's fixtures - Burnley vs Norwich and Tranmere vs Stockport - have been postponed as a mark of respect for Queen Elizabeth II. A decision on the weekend's games will be made on Friday morning, following discussion with the Department for Culture, Media & Sport.
The EFL paid tribute to Queen Elizabeth II, highlighting that she presented captain Bobby Moore with the World Cup trophy when England beat Germany at Wembley in 1966.
The Northern Ireland Football League announced Friday night's matches between Cliftonville and Glentoran and Larne and Dungannon have been postponed, and will update on Friday morning about Saturday's games.
UEFA decided that Thursday evening fixtures involving Manchester United and West Ham United would go ahead. There was a minute's silence at both Old Trafford and the London Stadium before the kick-offs, with players and staff wearing black armbands.

Not a Royalist personally, not a Republican either-just indifferent to it. Sorry to see the old girl go for all that but 96 isn't a bad innings and notwithstanding some of the family issues that have plagued the royals over a period of time, she had a pretty good life all in all. As you say, pay due respect with a minutes silence or whatever then get on with life-there's been enough disruption to normality already over the last two and a half years to last a lifetime. Don't think it'll turn out that way though. |

Don't think it'll turn out that way though. Theatre performances allowed to go ahead with a minutes silence, so maybe the game will go ahead? I mean shorely they wouldn't treat us differently? |

| Said this on the baggo,
The club will provide a further update for supporters in due course regarding tickets and existing hospitality bookings for the Sheffield Wednesday fixture. EFL fixtures will recommence on Tuesday, 13 September - with the visit of Oxford United to Home Park.
Looks like just the games on the 9th and 10th postponed. |

Don't think it'll turn out that way though. I wouldn't mind but we're not getting a day off work, only the fun stuff is being cancelled and anyway I thought part of their modern legend was built during the war when they seemingly carried on as normal . So instead of marking the occasion with thousands of others in a public pace, which would have been a special moment I'll do a bit of shopping and walk the dog. It does seem rather perverse. |

“Rugby clubs are a source of strength & support during times of uncertainty & we hope that by enabling games & other rugby activity to go ahead this weekend with families & friends congregating it will help us all to unite at this time of national mourning” I don’t disagree that rugby should carry on, the same as other minority leisure pursuits. Football is the National Sport so (unfortunately) it’s football that is given the job of paying its respects at the highest level. |

Just cancel those twats then. Seriously though anyone in the capital can trot down to the Palace or Windsor to pay their respects if they so wish yet down here we don't have any Royal residences like most of the country, I would have thought a football match would be an ideal opportunity for a tribute to her Maj in every ground, national sport or no t I hate being treated like a kid all the time. |

The vast majority of football fans at the matches would have probably done the same in variations but all respectful. My post about Celtic and Liverpool was Given that those fanbases not all but a large number often vent their anti english (laughable for liverpool ones) and very thing about it, will use this weekend to chant offence shit and pull out one of those banners which would get all the headlines and talk over the rest of the british clubs paying their respects. They will still do this for sure at a later date but when its so fresh i dont want them having the change to disrespect her. |

| It's ironic strikers vowed to return to work while the handful of suits decided to cancel football. The fact there was no obligation to cancel suggests to me it was decided Her Majesty's passing should cause as little disruption as possible, we've suffered enough of that as it is. A poor decision IMO. |

Truly pointless and smacks of the FA being desperate to be SEEN to be doing the right thing rather than engage their collective brains and think beyond the optics. At a time like this people want to be together, instead I took the dogs for a walk. |

I'm struggling to imagine him in slippers wandering round a garden with a carrier bag looking for dogshit and If was a cynic, I'd venture that an attempt is being made at his rehabilitation. The received wisdom is that Charles doesn't want anything to do with him and wants a slimmed down Royal Family what the Prince of Wales wanted and what the King gets may turn out to be different altogether |
