George Cooper out for season

George is too have surgery on his knee that will rule him out for the rest of the season

The 24-year-old, who joined the Pilgrims on a long-term deal in the summer, sustained the injury during the Greens’ 2-1 defeat at his former side Crewe Alexandra last month. Subsequently, the club sent him to a specialist, where the extent of the injury was revealed.

Argyle manager Ryan Lowe said: "We're gutted for George, but we have got to do right by the boy and get him back to fitness as soon as we possibly can.

"He's in the right place mentally, he's just disappointed he can't help the lads at the moment.

"Physically, we'll get him a bit stronger while he's recovering. He signed a long-term contract at this football club and there will be plenty of games to play over the years he will be with Plymouth Argyle.

"Once the operation is done, we'll put a programme together for him, and he'll be back physically and mentally stronger than ever."

The Warrington-born wide-man has made 12 Sky Bet League One appearances this season, netting once – a sublime curling effort in the Greens’ 4-4 draw at AFC Wimbledon back in September.

big blow looks like Ryan is going to have to find a new player to go on the left wingback probably on loan on top of strengthening the defence now.

Shorely we have other players at the club who can play on the left, even if it means dipping into the yoof. Can't sign or loan a new player everytime someone gets injured, make do and mend et al.

Need to sign a defender, Cooper is definitely not a defender

you can when the ones playing in that position weren't very good to begin with and Ryan Law is out on loan somewhere in anycase if your referring to him as the youth i believe. Cooper had a below average season before it was ended and he was the only one by trade who could play there the others who have been players playing out of position.

Creativity has been an issue for us along with the defending as Mayor does jackshit in games to create or even hit a shot on target we are going to need to look into that.

Bryon Moore can play at wing back, but again, not really a defender

Big squad and yet again we don't have enough quality to cover positions.

No loss at all considering his contribution so far this season.

The photo of himself in a hospital bed with his left knee in a brace and with a message 'Minor setbacks, major comebacks, successful surgery’.

Hope he makes a full recovery, the knees are quite often terminal for pro players though.

certainly does end them early, i imagine he will at some point convert to a central midfield role later in his career to try and prolong it as a result of knee surgery as success or no that will wear and tearaway over the years.
