Listening to a podcast last night from a Professor Karol Sikora on the status of Covid-19 in Italy.

According to him, the virus is weakening and dying out itself! It's virtually disappeared from Italy! fascinating stuff given the hell they went through only 6 weeks ago!

Has the heat actually done it in? It was widely reported in Asia earlier in the outbreak that heat killed it but I heard it dismissed by the WHO not long after. Mind you Brazil is pretty warm.

A WHO official on Radio Four last night said European countries should not be celebrating this summer but, preparing for the autumn when covid-19 is likely to hit hard once again.

This country needs a complete root and branch rethink about how to rebuild post Covid. Our reliance on Hospitality, Tourism and banking is way too narrow a business model plus we are killing the planet and ourselves with importing everything we use from Aisa.
There's a massive drive to supply school meals to kids in the summer holidays yet most of their parents will be working for companies that pay them the minimum wage yet they will use their gov handouts to pay dividends and bonuses to people who don't need them. We need a minimum wage of £10hr and we need to support new businesses and startups.
The sixth biggest economy in the world and we are going to be affected by this crisis way over and above any nations with a similar turnover. We need to change massively and it's not all about GDP.

Update

No new coronavirus cases have been recorded across Devon and Cornwall for two days in a row.
It is the first time since March 12 that two days in a row have passed without a new case being recorded across the two counties.

And in the Devon County Council area, only three new cases have been recorded in the last week, all of which were in Exeter.

East Devon, Mid Devon, North Devon, the South Hams, Teignbridge, Torridge and West Devon have all gone more than a week since their last case, with Teignbridge having gone more than two weeks, North Devon and Torridge three weeks, and West Devon more than five weeks.

Plus with the warmer weather in europe it will a factor in the spread of the virus if people are sensible and dont go protesting every week or holding raves then that can undo it all. When we get to autumn thats when it can pick up again and its by then there is a clear and proven method of treating it if the virus spikes.

It was stated sometime ago that covid-19 can function well in the warmer countries. Brazil now on 45,000 plus deaths and the head honcho still thinks it is a minor virus.

On the radio last night, Brazil, Chile and Mexico were identified as hotspots now.
