its been widely reported that league one and two are cancelled with Swindon, Crewe and some club called Argyle being promoted  there will be playoffs which will include Exeter to determine the 3rd place. Stevenage are relegated. given the conferences voided their seasons im interested to see how they work out promotions and relegations which if they do Truro may get their promotion after all.  League one situation is different though as many clubs want to play on so there maybe a solution come monday on that front.

So yeah all but confirmed by the big wigs which will probably be monday we are now a League one club shame its without the title but promotion is promotion no matter how it comes about even a worldwide health pandemic.

but its not confirmed just agreed too so again before its all champagne, league one has to be resolved which they will come monday/tuesday then it is with clubs allowed to celebrate and such if they agree to have relegations.

swindon shouldnt be champions though no team should be imo just promoted.

i wouldn't over this at least cause it could all be for nothing if league one decide not to do relegations then we are still in league 2.

PRESS RELEASE

Representatives of League One and League Two Clubs have met today by division where they haveshared a wide range of comprehensive views in respect of how the 2019/20 season is concluded.

The rationale for playing the remaining matches has been fully debated with a particular focus on the issues COVID-19 has created in respect of health and wellbeing, ongoing testing requirements, player registration issues and the financial burdens Clubs already face at this difficult time.

In the event of a curtailment of the season, the EFL Board outlined how this could be addressed through a framework that includes maintaining the principle of promotion and relegation, league tables to be determined via unweighted points per game (PPG) and Play-Offs to remain in every division to determine the final promotion place.

The EFL Board, whose aspiration has always been to conclude the 2019/20 season by completing the remaining fixtures, has previously stated that any decision on how to conclude the season is a matter for Clubs to determine in their respective divisions and, as a result of today’s discussions, the following update can be provided:

League Two

Having considered the protocols and costs that would be required to be met to conclude the current season, League Two Clubs have unanimously indicated a preferred direction of travel to curtail the campaign in line with the framework outlined by the EFL Board.

In addition, Clubs asked for consideration to be given to suspending relegation to the National League for 2019/20 as a result of circumstances created where fixtures cannot be completed. No commitments were made in this respect and the Board will now consider the implications of the division’s preferred approach at their next meeting.

League One

There were varied views shared in League One and it was determined that there would be a further period of reflection and consultation to understand what creative solutions could be implemented. It was acknowledged that the need to find innovative and creative solutions was of paramount importance as was the need for decisions to be taken quickly.

In addition, Championship Clubs met earlier this week and have indicated that it is their wish to play on and conclude the season.

The EFL will continue to work with all its members to progress the discussions and arrive at the necessary decisions as appropriate in what remain challenging and complex circumstances.

LOL that would be just our luck. Anyway long way to go yet before any decision is made. if this 'promotion' is eventually confirmed, whenever that may be, it will feel even flatter that the Del Boy promotion.

Tbh I've was never convinced that we would have gone up if all games played. True we were going great guns at the end but have flipped flopped all season and you wouldn't have been at all surprised to end up in playoffs at the end. I also had a bad feeling about the city game I think the season would have been massively influenced by that one game.
I'll be massively relieved to get out of lge. 2 by whatever means anyway.

Well that's the wankiest promotion I've ever experienced, or ever likely to experience in my 147 years of following Argo, mouse, man and boy!

If you read the statement carefully it's not a done deal yet.

"No commitments were made in this respect and the Board will now consider the implications of the division’s preferred approach at their next meeting."

"The EFL will continue to work with all its members to progress the discussions and arrive at the necessary decisions as appropriate in what remain challenging and complex circumstances."

League one are only being asked for their opinion, they don't get to make the decision.

What happens will be decided by the EFL - who looks as if they have made their mind up, and are just going through the motions?

Even if we do go up and Exeter stay down that stinging defeat at SJP will live long in the memory, and until we give them an absolute walloping it will never be scotched out.

Our fate very much still hangs in the balance. It depends on the Prem agreeing to relegation and promotion to and from the Championship and in turn the Championship and L1 both allowing promotion and relegation by whatever means may be decided. Still plenty that could go wrong and end up with Argo lining up against Forest Green, Salford, Crawley et al again next season. Nightmare.

I dont agree. Argyle are 99.9% promoted here. L2 has agreed on a points per game average. No arguements they all agreed. Period
Now if the other leagues want to battle on play behind closed doors so be it to determine promotion/relegation but it doesnt effect Argyle

We are promoted.

Not at all, if league one decides to null and void there will be no promotion from league two.
