| Former Bradford City striker Billy Clarke looks set to join Grimsby Town
Grimsby Town are closing in on their second signing of the January transfer window as manager Ian Holloway continues his business.
The Mariners already have one new face through the door, with Burnley defender Anthony Glennon signing on loan until the end of the season.
And Plymouth Argyle striker Billy Clarke looks to be following him to Blundell Park, with Holloway confirming he's bringing in a player he'd previously worked with.
We'll bring you all the latest on the transfer front throughout the day, and we'll also have all the latest from the manager from this afternoon's press conference at Cheapside.
The Mariners are preparing to head to Leyton Orient on Saturday, where they will be looking to continue their winning start to 2020.

| BILLY Clarke has left Plymouth Argyle. The experienced forward, 32, and the club have mutually agreed to end his short-term contract a few days before it was due to expire in order to allow Billy to pursue other opportunities. The former Ireland youth international joined Argyle in October 2019, and made 12 appearances in all competitions for the Pilgrims. We would like to place on record our thanks to Billy for his efforts while at Home Park, and wish him all the best for the future. "Billy is a number 10," said Argyle manager Ryan Lowe. "He came in and did fantastic for us but I don’t play with a number ten. He’s been a makeshift striker at times, so we’ve allowed Bill to move on. "His contract was until next week but we’ve agreed to terminate it for his benefit because he is signing for another League Two club and we couldn’t stand in his way. He’s a good pro, good lad and we wish him all the best. "It’s closer to home and he’s got three kids as well. He’s been ultra-professional, chomping at the bit to get in and he’s done ok when he did get in. we’ve helped him out with a short-term contract and he’s now fit and ready to play for the team he’s going to sign for." Makes you wonder why the fook he signed him in the first place? desperate for a striker with experience as taylor is a sack of shit now and b.moore and telford are picking up injuries too often and he probably looked the next best thing to what was on offer and i gather Billy just wanted a short term fix till january as he had no club and wanted to remain up north. Good luck to him anyways. |

Frees up a good slice of wages. So if he goes to Grimsby as has been suggested then that hat trick he scores when we play the re arranged game at HP is odds on! Think I might put a tenner on that. _______________________________________ I'm one of the common people so says the wife!
