Ryan Lowe has revealed Plymouth Argyle are waiting for a contract decision from Josh Grant.
The 21-year-old has been offered a long-term deal by the Pilgrims after a successful loan spell from Chelsea over the first half of the season.
That loan has now come to an end and was the reason why Grant was absent from Argyle’s squad for their 3-1 win away to Scunthorpe United on Saturday.
The Pilgrims were at least able to replace him with Tyreeq Bakinson, their new loan signing from Championship club Bristol City.
Lowe addressed the situation surrounding Grant when he met the media after the victory over Scunthorpe.
He said: “Josh’s loan finished on Thursday. We have offered him a contract, we want him to come on side, but we have to respect his decision.
“He’s keen with everything that we have done and he’s happy with everything but he has been at Chelsea since the age of six.
“The contract was always going to be there but we felt we would give him a little bit of time.
“We had Ty in the building to make sure that was right so we respect Josh’s decision. We have given him over the weekend to think it over.
“We are confident that he’s going to commit his future to us but we had to make sure we gave Josh a lot of time on that because it’s a big decision.
“The boy is only a youngster. He has been at Chelsea since he was a baby.
“So we have let him go away with his parents and his family to make sure he makes that right decision.”
