Oscar and Lloyd Set for game time reserves game 2pm kick off

Centre-back Lloyd Jones is set to make his first appearance for Plymouth Argyle since returning to the club in the Central League (South) away game to Bristol Rovers on Tuesday (1pm).

Jones, 23, will spend the rest of this season on loan to the Pilgrims after signing from Luton Town on transfer deadline day last week.

The Plymouth-born former Pilgrims’ academy player was an unused substitute for the 1-0 League One win away to Peterborough United on Saturday.

Argyle’s other January transfer window signing, Oscar Threlkeld, is also expected to get a run-out against Bristol Rovers.

Threlkeld has been an unused substitute for the last five League One games after re-signing for the Pilgrims on loan from Belgian club Waasland-Beveren.

His only action so far has been in Argyle’s 7-0 Central League thrashing of Cheltenham Town at Home Park on January 15.

Threlkeld, 24, played in central midfield and scored one of the goals as the Pilgrims extended their unbeaten record in the competition this season to five matches.

Argyle are top of the table with 13 points while Bristol Rovers are in second place with 11, although they have played one more match than the Pilgrims.

The clash between the top two sides in the Central League (South) will take Lockleaze Sports Centre in BBristol after being switched from the original venue of Yate Town FC.

Argyle beat Bristol Rovers 3-0 at Home Park in October with Gregg Wylde getting two of the goals and Alex Fletcher the other one.

Adam Randell, who has been Argyle’s holding midfield player in their 4-1-4-1 formation, is replaced by Michael Peck, another of Argyle’s second year apprentices in the 82nd minute.

Argyle goalkeeper Michael Cooper has not had too much to do during the second half but he has just made one good save from a Theo Widdrington free-kick.

Widdrington made good connection with his shot but Cooper got his body behind the ball and showed a safe pair of hands.

That is five wins and one draw out of six Central League games for Argyle, who continue to set the pace at the top of the South Division.

Alex Fletcher scored twice in the first half, along with Oscar Threlkeld, while Luke Jephcott added to the Pilgrims’ tally in the second half.

It was a good all-round performance from Argyle, with Lionel Ainsworth and Jephcott performing well in their wide positions.
