| Two of League One’s big hitters are close to agreeing a fee in the region of £500,000 with Plymouth Argyle for striker Freddie Ladapo, Plymouth Live understands.
Portsmouth and Sunderland both had bids for the 26-year-old goalscorer rejected by the Pilgrims in January and have renewed their interest.
Another club is also thought to have made an offer for Ladapo, while there has been long-standing interest in him from Championship side Brentford.
Ladapo signed a two-year contract with Argyle last summer after a short, unsuccessful spell at Southend United.
He went on to get 19 goals in a total of 46 starts and three substitute appearances for the Pilgrims.
Eighteen of them came in League One, but they were not enough to save Argyle from relegation.
There is also believed to have been interest in Ladapo from a couple of Scottish Premiership clubs this summer.
A number of players have already announced they are leaving Argyle during the close season.
Graham Carey has signed a two-year contract for Bulgarian club CSKA Sofia after rejecting a new contract offer.
Ryan Edwards, Yann Songo’o and David Fox are also on the move, while speculation about the future of Ruben Lameiras continues.
Any potential transfer of Ladapo would provide additional funds for new Argyle manager Ryan Lowe to stamp his mark on the Pilgrims’ squad.
Ladapo is currently one of 12 players under contract at Home Park for next season. |

| Told you 2 months ago he was off to a London club after he and Lamerias were somewhat pissed in Plymouth nightclub but Charlton was the touted buyer at the time. As Punchy says flog him and let Lowe build from scratch.... |

| He's the one player I'd like to keep followed by Lamieris. Ladapo and his 19 goals was a miracle in a relegated team whilst the money will be handy we will be very lucky to replace him with anyone of similar quality. |

| Pompey have scrapped interest in signing Freddie Ladapo.
The Blues had agreed a fee with Plymouth for the striker who netted 19 times last season.
However, following negotiations with the 26-year-old, Pompey have pulled out of the deal and will now focus elsewhere to strengthen their striking options.
It is understood Ladapo’s wage demands were chiefly behind the breakdown of the potential transfer.

The skeletons always arise Gull sooner or later. When Saltrock folded that was the 48th closure admin or bankruptcy the fella had been involved in so rest assured his ability to emergency parachute will be well known. Mind you 1000s across the country know how to bin limited companies with huge debts and start again so someone with huge financial experience (supposedly) would have no problem Wonder if Lowe is attempting to persuade Ladapo that hes under contract and hes going nowhere as yet....probably not but kinda thought he'd be off by now |

| Rotherham United are in talks to sign Plymouth Argyle striker Freddie Ladapo, Plymouth Live understands.
The League One club are believed to have agreed a fee of around £500,000 with Argyle for the 26-year-old over the weekend.
Rotherham will be looking to bounce back into the Championship at the first attempt after their relegation last season.
They have turned to Ladapo, who got 18 goals for Argyle in League One in 2018/19, as Millers’ boss Paul Warne sets about building a squad capable of achieving the club’s objective.
Sunderland are thought to remain in the race to sign Ladapo but Portsmouth have dropped out of the running. |
