| BBC Plymouth Argyle have appointed Bury boss Ryan Lowe as their new manager.
The 40-year-old led Bury to promotion from League Two, but the club have faced numerous off-field issues, including a winding-up petition, with players often going unpaid.
He joins a Pilgrims team who were relegated from League One on goal difference on the final day.
"I cannot wait to get started and to meet the legendary Green Army," Lowe, who replaces Derek Adams, said.
Adams' four-year reign came to an end when he was sacked after they were beaten 5-1 at Accrington Stanley in the penultimate game of the season - their fifth successive defeat.
Lowe became the first person to win promotion with Bury as both a player and manager, leading them to second in the fourth tier this season, having helped them up to League One as a player in both 2011 and 2015.
Bury gave Lowe permission to speak to Argyle last week. He had been in charge on a permanent basis for a year after two spells as caretaker manager in the 2017-18 season.
He played in 161 games in three spells with the club as a striker, with his final appearance coming in March 2018.
Analysis Charlie Price, BBC Radio Devon's Plymouth Argyle commentator
Lowe inherits a squad that could see a large amount of changes this summer. A number of the club's key players, such as Graham Carey and Ruben Lameiras, are out of contract and can leave for free.
He also has to address the club's defensive problems. Argyle conceded 80 goals last season - a quarter of which came in the final seven games.
However, off the field it looks like a decent proposition for an ambitious young manager. Argyle have almost completed a new grandstand to make Home Park an all-seater stadium, while the club has a relatively new owner in Simon Hallett and a new chief executive in former Liverpool director Andrew Parkinson. |

| Thank feck for that.
Bury fans on a football forum i post on are gutted and say we should look forward to free flowing attacking football. Apparently the best football some have seen them play for many years.
Sounds good to me |

Welcome Ryan and good luck (You will need it!) I second that. Let us hope he can bring in one or two decent players and perhaps get those who are yet to sign new contracts to stay at Argyle. |

| Apparently Lowe was always the first choice and Holloway was never even interviewed. So much for Holloway being "nailed on" Welcome aboard Ryan. |

The biggest issue will be the buckets of spittle when he opens his mouth. Joking aside, happy he's finally here. Let's hope he can get persuade Carey to stay plus recruit a whole new back four. |

| Amen to that. In all seriousness I think he's a good fit for us, I never wanted a previous manager, never works, I didn't want an old experienced league 2 manager, young and hungry is what we need. Let's just hope he can afford to sign the players we need. |

| finally its over and we can get on with the important jobs of preparing for an immediate return to league one and rebuild the squad in order to do that. I am slightly concerned the club have kept the length of his contract private maybe that will be declared in the press conference.
Welcome to the club ryan lowe and steven schumacher. I wish you the very best here,
fyi to the pasoti user who said that de generation stand mankover was the reason he came here you are an idiot. |

| Good news, have a positive feeling about this guy, clearly the board were having some kind of difficult negotiation with Bury FC, and were probably correct in their handling of the situation. Welcome Ryan - feck off Bent!

| I think it is safe to say that Argyle would not have got their man had it been for the troubling financial situation at Bury FC... it is something the Green Army can relate to themselves, of course. Argyle fans are on a real high right now, but spare a thought for Bury fans. Everything seemed so good not so long ago following promotion, but it is all falling apart against the backdrop of serious financial issues. There is a huge fundraising campaign going on to save the Shakers. If you’re felling generous, then do your bit... [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Erald |

| First time in a few seasons, despite the situation we are in (League 2)
That I'm actually looking forward to see what happens at Argyle, Sounds like we can look forward to an exciting brand of football, Can't wait to see what kind of a squad, Lowe can put together, See who kicks on under a new manager.

Yep his brand of football is heralded as attacking by all that talk of him. Pity about Holloway in my opinion but this is probably as good as it gets in hindsight even if it was a week late |
