| Plymouth Argyle are very close to confirming the appointment of their new manager. The Pilgrims are set to make a formal announcement by the middle of the week, Plymouth Live understands.
Bury boss Ryan Lowe has appeared to be in pole position for the role for some time and that remains the case.
Erald today. |

| If it is Lowe, I wonder if he will poach one or two Bury players to bring down to Home Park. |

The issue with that is Bury got themselves into shitloads of debt by paying comparatively big money to their best players. It’s up for debate whether Argyle would be willing to pay similar amounts. Argyles turnover should be significantly higher than Bury’s so in theory there may be a chance. To add to that aswell, Lowe’s stock is high following a promotion. But it may well prove to be no more than a fully expected achievement, given the calibre of player attracted by the silly money wages Bury were paying that has nearly bankrupted them. |

| And so the wait goes on. Another day is passing by without Plymouth Argyle announcing the identity of their new manager. The sense of increasing frustration is palpable among the Green Army, especially those on social media who are desperate for any updates or hints. There has been so much said and written about Bury boss Ryan Lowe being appointed as manager and bringing Steven Schumacher with him as his No 2 but, crucially, no official confirmation. From what I can gather, the hold-up is not of Argyle’s making and club officials are having to be patient. It does make you wonder whether there will come a point when the Pilgrims have to set some sort of deadline for an appointment before moving on to another candidate. Players are starting to sign for new clubs around the EFL, while other deals will be well advanced. And, hard as it might seem to believe, Argyle are due to start pre-season training three weeks tomorrow (June 26). There will be many issues to address before then for the successor to Derek Adams as he prepares for the 2019/20 season. Argyle’s out-of-contract players who have been offered new deals will understandably want to know who the new manager is as it could influence their decisions. Realistically, the chances of Ruben Lameiras staying at Home Park must be very slim, but there are those who believe Graham Carey can be persuaded to re-sign. For that to happen, though, Carey will want to know who he is going to be playing for, and relatively soon you would have thought. It should be pointed that there have been a couple of other Argyle managerial appointments in the month of June over the past decade. Peter Reid was not appointed by the Pilgrims until June 24, 2010 after they parted ways with Paul Mariner seven weeks earlier. Then, in 2015, Adams was not named as Argyle manager until June 11. However, that was only two weeks after John Sheridan quit, following the defeat to Wycombe Wanderers in the League Two play-off semi-finals. So that still represented a speedy hiring by the Pilgrims, and much shorter than the current protracted process. Argyle have clearly identified someone they rate very highly and want to hire, but while patience is a virtue they cannot afford to wait indefinitely. In one noteworthy piece of news on Tuesday afternoon, Bury's influential midfielder Nicky Adams took to social media site Twitter to confirm he would be leaving the club 'for a new challenge'. | Nicky Adams has said he will leave Bury. Steven Schumacher (our likely assistant coach/ manager) has said he'll see him soon- so could possibly be Lowe's first signing (I think it's likely Lowe will be announced tomorrow)? |

With Hallett, Parkinson & Newton at the EFL jolly in Portugal on Thursday/Friday... tomorrow does seem to be the obvious time to name the new manager....to let it drag into the weekend or next week would not be wise......unless Hallett cancels his trip to the Summer Conference so to be around for Thursday or Friday. |

| Or maybe Hallett sees the delay in a positive light? I mean the season doesn't start until August, the hardcore will still turn up kissing the badge, what's the rush? |

| PLYMOUTH Argyle are delighted to announce that Ryan Lowe is the Pilgrims’ new manager. Ryan, 40, comes to Home Park having guided Bury to promotion from Sky Bet League Two last season, his first full season in club management. Ryan said: “I am thrilled to have been appointed Argyle manager and to have been given this opportunity to manage a great football club. “I cannot wait to get started and to meet the legendary Green Army.” Argyle chairman Simon Hallett said: “Ryan was the outstanding candidate from a very strong and impressive list of top-quality managers. “We welcome him to Home Park, having no doubts that his footballing philosophy and attacking style is perfect for the way our supporters like to see Argyle play.” Ryan will be assisted by fellow Liverpudlian Steve Schumacher, his right-hand man at Bury. Both will be introduced to the Green Army in due course. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] |
