| Shame the print version is gone. I loved the NME. I loved the Lone Groover. I bought it every week from 1970 until 1982. ...and even occasionally after that when I found it on a US Newstand. I could almost do the crossword. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] |

| I won the crossword over a dozen times.
In the pre-internet age a lunchtime spent in Waterstones perusing the Guiness Book of Hit Singles would normally result in being able to finish it off. Once it changed from £35 of HMV vouchers to a load of tat they had lying around the office I gave it up. I don't think there's a single album they sent that hasn't long since ended up in landfill.
The mag from about 88 to the early 00's was essential but ver kidz nowadays don't want to read 2000 words about a band they've never heard of when they can hear a dozen tracks on teh internet.
