| A very entertaining read Harve, thanks for putting it together, I'm sure the leader of the Janner Nation will put out some more gems soon. |

| I was struck off Napoleon's Farm a decade ago.The reason given was that I was upsetting other posters with my repeated predictions of our inevitable demise, because our 'run by fans, for fans' board had got greedy and wouldn't let go. At that time the cosying up to shareholders was in full swing. 'Trust in Stapes'.....Year on year progress'.....'Enjoy the ride'............. and of course,'I'll never hear a bad word about that man [Stapes] and his lovely family '. When the citi boy turned up and knew he needed cheerleaders to support his every desire, including asset stripping, the gruesome twosome fell into his lap. Deepthroating Windsor boys earning their AAA passes. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]History will condemn. |

History will condemn. 10 years ago-Holloway had departed and the fire sale was in full swing..........doesn't seem like that long ago, but an awful lot of shit has happened in that time. And Argyle are no further forward,in fact have regressed both on and off the pitch, since then.Watched a bit of Bristol City last night, with considerable envy it must be said. Clear evidence that you don't need a trust run club to be successful or that going down the benefactor route is necessarily bad. |

A total of £123.5m has been 'pumped' into Bristol City over the last five years. £63m was used to cover operating losses and £53m was spent on capital expenditure (largely the redevelopment of three sides of Ashton Gate). Finally there was a net purchase cost of players of £6.5m over the period.. The money was raised by a mixture of loans from the owner, Steve Lansdown's group of companies and the issue of shares. Some of those loans, which totalled £76.5m over the period, have been written off in successive year's accounts. In 2014 when City were in League 1 their turnover was £6.1m (broadly comparable to Argyle's last financial year). By 2017 that had more than tripled to £21.2m in the Championship. Interestingly, commercial/retail/stadium revenue increased from £1.6m to £8.5m in the same period as the stadium and facilities were improved in capacity and quality. Ambition clearly comes at a cost. |
