Fear the worst now.England look like rabbits caught in the headlights, outpaced, outspun, outbatted and outpsyched. Money would be on another nightmarish whitewash, could be the third in four series down under when previously it had happened only once in about 130 years. Well done to Overton, he may or may not be a shithouse but at least showed a bit of fire meets fire aggression.

We've got to go to Perth next as well. May as well hand the ashes over now.

At last we're making a fight of it on day 4 bowling wise. Just need to bat out out the day with the loss of no more than 2 wickets, the ball is getting softer and there isn't much in the pitch. We are treating Nathan Lyon with too much respect and need to really target him.

Del Boy would have the answer. He'd bring back Barrington and Boycott. All out defence, nothing but the forward defensive prod for 5 days. Bore the sledgers rigid, and the barmy army, who clearly have far too much time and money on their hands.

With the big ask for tomorrow, they will have to go in and believe they can do it with what is left of the batting order. Mission impossible springs to mind !!

I could imagine Del Boy being more of a Chris Tavare fan.

Very Happy Yes, I'm sure Tavare would be an ever present.
Tony Grieg, Ted Dexter and Botham would have been sold to Sri Lanka.

Watched Tavare in action for Somerset quite a lot in the 1980's and 1990's-in fact he was a very fluent player at county level who used to bat well with Jimmy Cook, one of the unlucky Saffers who dipped out on a test career. Tavare was asked to do a specific job at test level and did it reasonably effectively, probably to the detriment of his own long term reputation.

Well, it is safe to say that England can kiss the Ashes goodbye for another few months and more.

A bit like Jervis, then. LOL

In other news, Duckett has been banned for pouring a pint over Anderson, more commonly known as "doing a Willis", and I don't mean Bob. Razz

Ah well, always 2019/20 or whenever it is. Outgunned by a better team, very worrying that the cupboard seems to be bare as far as prospective test class players is concerned. No team should ever lose 6 wickets for 35 on a wicket which equated to a road. Broad and Moeen have contributed absolutely nothing in this series and Woakes not much better, so much for the alleged strength of the late middle order. May as well play Crane in the next test, although an average of 45 per wicket in his career so far wouldn't suggest a world beater-at least it would be a bit of variety in an England attack stunning in its sameness.

A shambles of a tour. The ECB will try and blame it on KP again, I'd have thought.

Crane must be unselectable given his FC record and they way he was spanked around in the warm ups.

I'd be tempted by a look at Dom Bess who is out there with the Lions. Of course, Leach or Rashid should have been in the original squad.

CPS will no doubt clear Ben Stokes to play now the Ashes are lost. Shambles of a tour ECB has questions to answer even more so if this turns into a whitewash.

Embarrassing now, completely outclassed in all departments and very little from the tour to take forward. Strange comments from Bairstow [fan of his though I am] that Ali and Crane bowled "brilliantly", dread to think what their mediocrity would be like. Stoneman and Vince not good enough, only Malan has proved to be up to the mark among the newbies. England have to reshape the team and cannot regard Ali as a front line bowler any longer- with the loss of balance that will bring,it may well be worth looking at Somersets pair to try to unearth a proper spinner. Cupboard seems rather bare in other departments, depressing indictment on county cricket and the lower levels in producing players who can thrive in all conditions.

At least we avoided a whitewash and still have a team to support.
