| Which tosser at FIFA thought it was a good ideas to have Italy in pot two ? Winners to 2006 &2010 world cup in same group. Italy I hear hadn't manipulated FIFA s stupid ranking system, I see now when some countries like to play cannon fodder to keep an inflated ranking. |

Obviously England have to qualify because their fans travel in great numbers and buy a lot of whatever FIFA officals beer partner is offering these days. FIFA is crooked. Who knew? |

| The last time we failed to qualify for a major tournament was in 2008 in which we finished behind Croatia and Russia in what should have been a straightforward group. That was in no small part down to our incompetence you know Steve McClaren 3-5-2, Scott Carson and Gary Nevilles back pass.
I don't remember us ever getting a qualification group of death , certainly not since brand FIFA took over |

I don't remember us ever getting a qualification group of death , certainly not since brand FIFA took over England were pretty unlucky not to qualify in 1974 when you compare the criteria for qualification to now. They were in a group of 3 with Poland and a reasonable Wales team with only one to go through-no play offs or second chances. Poland were an exceptional team with some great players like Deyna, Gadocha, Lato, Lubanski etc who finished third in the main tournament and probably deserved even better- makes you wonder how England would have fared after the battering they gave Poland at Wembley. Same in 1978-out on goal difference to a very good Italy team who also finished third. England have it very easy now in terms of qualification compared to those days. |
