The only trouble is there is a political imperative. And the long arm of Westminster hangs over any decisions /appeals these days with the new planning guidelines.
The only bright spot is the council majority and the UKIP concubines WILL be voted out of office at the next elections.

But it as labour led council that gave brent the right to plan what he likes with no opposition so it will be no different. Tudor Evans forget about it.

Talking to a Council officer today, in our conversation I mention Central Park and the cafe the Council will be building there and what Brent is trying to get through planning with his food outlets. The officer said it is not going very well for his planning proposals.

I see that the smugness is starting to permeate from certain sections. The Herald today picking up on the Planning Officers decision yesterday with a 'headline' Confirmed: Plymouth Ice Arena and Home Park plans set for go-ahead.

The parking was never going to stop anything. Economic imperative overrules most things these days, although there's going to be a few burnt fingers with this badly thought out plan. I just don't see the demand. The council have long toned down or given up on parking requirements for new developments. Where do people think all those hundreds of students in the new Cobourg Street 23 storey tower are parking ?
We're all going to have to squeeze even closer together. Well, most of us. Not the developers of course, they'll be out in the sticks somewhere. They'll end up coming into town in some Bladerunner drone and land on the roof of the restaurant they've booked. LOL

The Local Planning Authority gives a slapped wrist to the AFT .......

Quote:
The report also criticised the Argyle Fans Trust for “objecting the plans after not consulting fans who support the redevelopment” and claim “they are trying to represent their own views rather than those of all Argyle supporters.”

Done deal, no mention of Brent only consulting a handful of nodding donkeys and leg shaggers.

Goes on to state the following,

However, the report also raises the concerns and objections, including the issue of parking and extra traffic on Outland Road. It is also claimed that the application is in the interests of the developer and not PAFC and the City Council are urged to require that the applications are resubmitted as separate proposals by PAFC and Akkeron.

Very interesting...

I see De-Liar is jizzing his already piss-stained pants, whilst unable to resist numerous pops at the AFT and in particular Andy Symmons. What a sad, pathetic existence he leads.

Cracking journalism from the Erole, as ever. Yes, this point is in the report, but only because it's in a summary of comments received. Just like the points about the parking being inadequate, or the office block being unsuitable for a park.

No planning officer worth their job would make a comment like that in a formal report.

The permission may well be granted, doesn't mean a single thing will happen. Brent hasn't built a single thing so far in his property portfolio so why change the habit of a lifetime.

My money is as soon as permission is granted we'll see some for sale signs dotted around the place, nice profit.

Even so with his track record for delivering ZERO on multiple developments that he gets planning app for, this council still give gives him another one. Plus this time he has Hallet who seems to be propping this up so i can see it happening now.

I see Toys R Us is earmarked for closure as announced today, more land for the council to gift to Brent then, it's perfect size for an ice rink.... Hmm?

There was a lot of talk a couple of years back that the whole changeling Toysrus/Colin Campbell/pasty quarter could be an alternative squeeze in for the ice rink, along with more housing, given there are too many shops, and all the punters have emigrated to the web. But I remember right back at the beginning of the life centre discussions though, that Sport England and other bodies wanted the whole sporting offering, with an hotel, all on the same site. Some sort of national standard template apparently.
Still, we'll all be at war sometime in the not too distant, so I guess it's all academic. Can't wait for all those big chains champing at the bit to take up the squire's vision of a Milehouse profit centre, especially with Brexit weaving it's magic. It could be a long, long wait. Anybody know how long the old TSW studios site was boarded up ?

HHP. Land banking at it's finest.

Indeed Tg. The whole gold rush for property ghouls is taking it's next logical step, after the Summer school thing isn't giving the property bheys the return they want. Oh my Miss Scarlet ! where will it end ? One can only guess what's in the back of Saint Jim's mind. Uber AFC ? Bring in a team for the day with an app.

Quote :
Empty student flats in Plymouth are being rented out to tourists as posh holiday apartments - at the same time as even more are being built.
At one student flats building, entire floors will be let to "high end guests" when they would otherwise sit empty.
And up to 300 plush purpose-built flats for students in a single block in the city centre look set to become available to rent for holidaymakers - for anything from two nights to eight weeks.

B&B owners on the Hoe fear they could be put out of business if the council does not step in and stop the latest set of plans.

But city chiefs have indicated support for a move that would see empty student rooms filled by big-spending tourists who might otherwise struggle to find a hotel room.

There are plans to demolish the Moneycentre at Drake Circus and build another monster student flats block reaching 21 storeys in its place.

One off profits before they all high tail it following Branson to some Ocean island and leave the skyscrapers behind for a good Beirut style seeing to. One day, we will follow Ireland and start demolishing these new, never filled, empty follies that were built to skim the cream from the last great property boom of the century, before the machines lost it, their algorithms ran out of puff, and the people decided to take back their crofts.
As Sparks used to say ( I can't call him Sparksy anymore, too endearing ), other views are available.

Just caught the end of Spotlight they say all HHP is being given approval, cue six weeks of gloating by the Brenty Bum Chums then the knashing of teeth when they realise HHP won't get built for years or at all.
