Not necessarily. If the first offence hadn't gone to court with a guilty verdict when the second offence had been committed, there is an important mitigation defence. It's all about knowingly taking the mickey and still flouting the law when you have already been found guilty previously, and rightly so.
It's a defence anyone can use when, for instance, being up for a points totting up ban. People plead not guilty to an earlier offence to delay proceedings, but admit guilt first to the later offence, that would have resulted in a ban.

Another delay

A Plymouth Argyle player has appeared before magistrates charged with driving without any insurance.

Yann Songo'o has already admitted speeding and using his mobile phone while driving a Porsche Boxster on Mannamead Road on December 2, 2016.

The Pilgrims defender is also accused of travelling in a Porsche Boxster in excess of 30mph on a restricted road in Peverell on January 27 this year.

The Cameroonian was accused of driving the vehicle without a licence, but police have now dropped that charge.

The 25-year-old appeared at Plymouth Magistrates Court on this morning to answer the insurance charge, but his defence lawyer has asked for more time to clarify legal documents.

The court heard some confusion has arisen understanding the Spanish translation of Songo'o's brother's insurance policy, which Songo'o claims also covers himself as a driver.

His defence lawyer said: "[I] will write to Alliance, the providers of the insurance, and clarify [...] whether they consider Mr Songo'o as an insured driver on December 2 when he was stopped by police."

Magistrates granted an extra 21 days to clarify the situation.

He will appear again on Monday, September 11 at 10am.

Two other charges against the French-born player – of driving without a valid licence and valid insurance – had earlier been discontinued.

He was fined a total of £845 and banned for six months under the totting-up procedure.

The club acknowledges that it has a responsibility to its players and the community and, accordingly, will be asking Yann to attend a Driver’s Awareness Course.

It is important to note that, contrary to reports, Yann had not missed any previous court appearance.

He had requested in the proper manner, and been granted, an adjournment on earlier occasions because he was out of the country, including on the club’s pre-season visit to the Netherlands.

Hopefully the club will address the issue of taking photos whilst driving and then tweeting them.

I ride a motorcycle (I have a car too) being on two wheels one is very vulnerable and twats on their mobiles whilst driving should be banned for life.
