A Plymouth Argyle footballer already facing three motoring charges is set to appear at another court on a speeding charge.

Yann Songo'o, is to appear at Bodmin Magistrates Court on Tuesday where he will face one charge of speeding.

The Pilgrims defender, aged 25, is accused of travelling in a Porsche Boxster in excess of 30mph on a restricted road in Peverell on January 27 this year.

Songo'o, who has given the court his address as Grantley Gardens, Mannamead, has previously been accused of driving a Porsche Boxster on Mannamead Road on December 2 2016 without any insurance.

He also faces the charges of driving without a licence and using a mobile phone while driving.

The Cameroonian – who was born in France - was initially meant to attend Bodmin Magistrates Court on May 3 to face these three counts.

He did not appear at court on that date and it was adjourned to May 5 at Plymouth Magistrates Court.

However, the court clerk said there were no details on the paperwork to suggest the defender had ever had the summons served on him.

It was suggested in court he may be living in France before the football season resumed and as such magistrates agreed it was best to adjourn the matter to July 24, to allow the court to make contact with officials at Plymouth Argyle and ensure a summons was personally served on Songo'o.

Plymouth Magistrates' Court heard Pilgrims' defender Yann Songo'o could not attend the hearing because he was out of the country.

This afternoon the club tweeted a picture showing players having a game of table tennis in Delden, Holland.

The magistrates were told that Plymouth Argyle had contacted the court to say he was not in the country and requested that the case was adjourned until he had returned.

The bench agreed to adjourn the case until August 2.

how many times is someone allowed to no show their own court date before a warrant is issued? most cases its once with exceptional circumstances but usually never the rest of the time.

The twat shouldn't have been taken to Holland. He should have been left behind to train with the kids and respect the court date. He's not in fuckin Cameroon now. He needs a wake up call to some very basic laws of our land because he's either oblivious or pig ignorant of them.

No think it's the third time... 3 May and 12 June before Monday.

Not that it matters. It's inexcusable on every level and the club should certainly have taken steps to get him into the courtroom.

I'd imagine most employers would be pretty pissed off to be connected with such a story and a football club more so given their higher profile.

Too right he should have sorted it without the club having to nurse him, he is an adult after all, but maybe he's just another man-child in which football specialises, so certainly after the second no show the club should have stepped in.

Speeding, using mobile, no licence, no insurance, how much more reputational issues do you want Brent.......

Who owned the car, because there is a none-to-little consideration that any owner giving a vehicle to someone to drive has to make sure the person is insured.

What about checking if he has a driving licence

All 4 of those together and nothing less than a stretch he will get......the uninsured and no licence will be bad add in the other two and we need another midfielder
