Had a great bonfire today, the most efficient in a long time. Wood is stored sun energy, hence annual canes and their earthed feet don't burn for very long.

Was thinking about trying to make the front gate more squeaky so it could warn when people are approaching. Decided not to bother, since hardly anybody else ever shuts it.
