The next John Terry, he ain't.
Anything north of 100k will be worthy of an eyebrow raise. Hasn't Nelson been injured since pre-season?
His appearance record over the last few seasons does not indicate that he is injury prone so if he has been crocked and has then come back into the team almost immediately when fit then it boosts the case for how good he is rather than weakening it. Just had a look. He had a full pre-season and did start the first game. He's been on the bench a few times in the last month, then started at full back on Saturday in their home defeat to Millwall. |

| A DECISION has been deferred at the independent tribunal in London to set the compensation payment that Plymouth Argyle will receive for their former captain and centre-back Curtis Nelson.
There is no word yet when the verdict of the panel will be announced or if any financial details will be revealed.

sounds to me Argyle want more than Oxford can afford and a settlement still cant be reached with the tribunal. |

| That's a decent fee at League 1/2 level. No doubt now that the historic debt is paid off, all the money received will be given to Derek Adams to strengthen the squad in January.
No, really, I'm serious. Stop laughing. |

| 200k is a more than fair amount of wedge. You have to ask yourself, if you're PAFC and Nelson becomes available (from another team) for 200k, would you be rushing out to buy him? I'm pretty sure I wouldn't. And obviously Oxford wouldn't have either looking at this.... [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] |

Well, Christmas isn't Christmas without a few Louis Roederer Crystal Gold Caged jereboams of champagne at 17 grand a bottle from Harrods, so there's that. And JB needs a supply of £50 notes to light his Montecristo No. 4s whilst laughing at the plebs. With a bit of luck, there might be enough left to sign a promising trainee from Tiverton Town... |

| "The figure is significantly higher than our initial expectation. We respect the Committee's decision but Plymouth have seemingly benefited from the lack of clarity of how the 'youth compensation' regulations are applied. This is a huge amount of money for a club such as ourselves and well above the amount budgeted''. Read more at [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]I'm sure Curtis will be delighted to read the reaction of his employers. In todays football world 200K is peanuts and Oxford are moaning - |

| Leeds United are lining up a move to sign Oxford United captain Curtis Nelson, according to Football Insider.
The reliable football news site claim that centre-back Nelson, 24, figures highly on the wanted list of Elland Road manager Thomas Christiansen as he aims to land a new defender before the transfer window cut-off.
However, Christiansen will face a battle to persuade Oxford to sell Nelson after he was named club captain at the Kassam Stadium this summer.
Good move for Leeds?
Possibly. Former Stoke trainee Nelson is regarded as one of the best defenders in the lower leagues after impressing at both Oxford and former club Plymouth. He is a commanding presence who has ironed out some of the weaknesses in his game in recent years, and his commitment and willingness to put his body on the line has made him a popular figure on the terraces. Is he good enough to make the step up to the Championship? All the evidence is that, yes, he is. Leeds are in need of another senior centre-back and Nelson, who is 24 and has his best years ahead of him, could prove a shrewd signing. However, he may have to wait his turn as he would be unlikely to walk straight into the Leeds starting line-up.
Likely to happen?
Given Leeds’ desire to sign another centre-back, which Christiansen tacitly admitted at his weekly briefing on Friday, there is every chance. Oxford are vulnerable to a bid as Nelson only has a year remaining on the contract he signed when joining from Plymouth last summer. If the player wants it, a deal could be agreed fairly swiftly. |

I understand we are on another earner if a fee is agreed in excess of what we got for him previously and 20% is the touted figure.... Jimbo on another unbudgeted top up for his pension pot |

| Yep, 20% of everything over the initial fee. Usual rules apply, we'll get paid when Oxford get paid, after Western Union & Akkeron fees there will be feck all left yada yada. |
