We are off to Holland

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

AFTER completing their pre-season tour of the Westcountry at Weymouth on Saturday, Argyle have headed to Holland for a week-long training camp.
The Pilgrims will be based at Delden, a town half the size of Saltash, near Enschede, close to the border with Germany.

The squad is staying in a sports hotel, which manager Derek Adams knows well, having used it as a training base several times whilst in charge of Ross County.

“We’re looking forward to it,” said Derek. “I’ve been there four or five times to the same place and I know how it works; it’ll be good for me to go there again and compare the team.

“We always take them there the penultimate week before the season. We do the hard work here, and then we go across there and finish off the preparation.

“There are tennis courts; a golf course; tenpin bowling, a gymnasium; sauna and Jacuzzi; and we can go out and have a bike ride. So we have got everything on the doorstep.”

The trip will also see the Pilgrims play their penultimate game of the pre-season, against Dutch second-tier side MVV Maastricht on Tuesday, July 26.

As well as the chance to hone fitness and tactics, the trip offers Argyle’s new-look squad the opportunity to get acquainted, with 13 new players having arrived at Home Park in the summer.

Derek said: "The players will be away for five nights and that gives them time to get to know each other because we have got a new group of players."

SOME THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT ARGYLE’S PRE-SEASON IN HOLLAND

DELDEN, where Argyle will be based during their Dutch stay, is a town in the Overijssel province of
Holland.

DELDEN covers an area of 5.96 sq km. In 2013, its population was 7,400. Plymouth is 79.84 sq km, with a population of 261,546.

THE most famous landmark in Delden is Castle Twickel, the estate of which covers more than 4,000 hectares and includes 150 farms with agricultural land and meadows, interspersed with moorland, fens and woods. The oak woods are famous for the quality of the wood they produce.

ARGYLE will face Maatschappelijke Voetbal Vereniging Maastricht on Tuesday, July 26, kick-off 7pm.

MAASTRICHT play in the Eerste Divisie, the second highest tier of football in the Netherlands, having finished 10th of the 19 teams in 2015-16, 24 points behind champions Sparta Rotterdam.

Derek Adams has admitted it is highly unlikely that Plymouth Argyle defender Karleigh Osborne will start the League Two season-opener against Luton Town.

Osborne has yet to play in any of the Pilgrims' seven warm-up matches because of a thigh injury.

And the 28-year-old has not been included in a 20-strong squad for the club's training camp in The Netherlands this week.

Second-year apprentice defender Jordan Bentley has taken Osborne's place in the Argyle squad for their Dutch trip.

Osborne will stayed behind and will work on his rehabilitation using the facilities at the University of St Mark and St John.

I did read it this afternoon from PAFC. What make me laugh is when they throw rubbish at out mods (All the ATD mods still living in their ivory towers) They are elected by all ATD posters and any one who have the right amount of post can stand. That is what Democratic stand for. No sheep or pigs
on here.

I've just read it as well. Talk about re writing of history!

'fed to the lions with no back up from the rest of the moderators or the key-holders' total bollocks!

I seem to remember he fecked up, we tried to sort it out , he deleted his account.
He's was always good at deleting his account when he fecked up.

As for the 'posse of bully boys' total bollocks as well. Czarky had enough of SFD and his postings and called him out. A number of other members including myself agreed with him. Nothing orchestrated.

Unlike a couple of years ago when a few well known, long term members PMed between themselves to try and provoke another user to make racist and homophobic comments to get him banned from ATD.

I know Punchy lost it a bit, but he was an original ATDer and for years was a good poster.

POI is just an A-class attention seeker. All I did was call him out on all his bi-monthly user name changes and he can't cope with it.

That's one way of looking at it, I suppose.

Just imagine how different it would have looked if it had been orchestrated.
