- RHYS WILMOT has returned to his role as Plymouth Argyle's part-time goalkeeping coach.
The 54-year-old will work two days a week with Luke McCormick and Vincent Dorel, while continuing his work with up-and-coming shot-stoppers in the club's academy.
Wilmot left Home Park in June 2015, soon after the appointment of Derek Adams as the Pilgrims' manager.
After that James Bittner combined his role as a back-up to McCormick with coaching duties.
But Bittner moved to League Two rivals Newport County earlier this summer and that has opened the way for Wilmot to resume his role at Home Park.
Adams said: "We have got a part-time goalkeeping coach in Rhys Wilmot. He will come in two days a week.
"That's what we can afford, and I think that it's important the goalkeepers have specialised coaching."
Wilmot made a total of 147 appearances for Argyle between 1989 and 1992 in a career which started at Arsenal.
He was first appointed as Argyle's part-time goalkeeping coach by John Sheridan in June 2013.
Adams continued: "It's an important role. He has been here for a good number of years – in the academy and with the first team.
"He will get the goalkeepers working very hard to be in tip-top condition."
While i applaud the commonsense in bringing Rhys back as GK Coach imo he shouldnt have been given the boot last seaon for a conference gk at best i do take interest in the we cant afford a f/t gk coach. |

| What happened to the two hundred grand they made from the playoffs? not going on the Poundland playing squad, not going on a goal keeping coach or the Ground, and Jimmy's taken a vow of silence since the playoff surrender.... anybody know? |

Exactly Adams is making a deliberate statement of fact and a clear dig at the Shyster at the helm Spot-on Harv ole' boy. I'm dead cert that Rhys wouldn't leave the police for Argyle f/t and with travelling time and days off after games etc there can hardly be a lot more than 2 days left BUT DA threw in his ''money snag'' when he had no need to. I really think its time for JB to read all these offers he's getting a bit less critically and take the plunge but I doubt he'll do that before Nov (can't think why??) Having agreed with Harv again I'm off for a lie down in a dark room. |

| Didnt del bhey remove rhys last year because he wanted a f/t gk coach hence why the club moved him back down to the youth setup?
rhys is a good enough gk coach for us certainly so it is a wise decision to bring him back but we should really have someone in for more than 2 days. |

Nobody is disputing the idea that Rhys is happy with 2 days a week, what you are conveniently ignoring though is the statement from Adams that that is all the club could afford, do you have an opinion on that(cue cutting cloth accordingly claptrap)..... |

What's with all the mischief making, after signing 21-22 full time pros and an overseas pre-season training camp, perhaps that's all we can afford, so suits both parties, don't think there's anything to see here, unless you want to make it so. Compared to last season I think we're better off in the GK coaching/playing department. Didn't notice McCormick reaping the benefit of Bittner's astute FT coaching last season, did you ? |
