ARGYLE have signed midfielder David Ijaha following a successful trial at Home Park.
The 26-year-old impressed enough in training and in the Pilgrims' first pre-season match at St Blazey to become manager Derek Adams' 12th new signing since June 16.
David's previous club was Vanarama National League South Whitehawk, from West Sussex, who he joined in 2014 – a club where current Argyle assistant manager Craig Brewster also formerly worked.
The Londoner began his career with Chelsea's Academy before finishing his apprenticeship at Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he played regular reserve-team football.
He subsequently played for former Spurs midfielder David Howell at Harrow and St Albans, then Tonbridge and Hayes & Yeading, under ex-Ireland international Phil Babb, whilst also working as a personal trainer.
David then moved to Whitehawk, where home fans serenaded him with his own special version of The Pina Colada Song (Escape) by Rupert Holmes - “If you like David Ijaha, and getting caught in the rain…”
He has been handed the number 22 shirt for the new season.
Welcome to Home Park, David. Read more at [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

He's a midfielder at least, but there seem to be concerns about whether he can cope with training on a professional level. Could be a cheap Hiram Boateng, could be the new Rhys Griffiths.

steep learning curve for anyone jumping two levels at one go let alone from non league semi professional to a full time league club expecting to be challenging for promotion from the get go
noticed he didn't even get a game for them for their big fa cup second round game against D&R last season
Shocking signing from the Brentmare, if this guy is a success it will be a bigger shock for me than Leicester winning the Prem!! Accept this sort of signing then accept non league football, because thats where Argyle are heading.
The Midfield isnt filling me with confidence as it stands atm.
Del bhey plans to sign 3 more players (another central midfielder, a goalkeeper and another) before he calls it a day on squad strengthening beyond one or two loan signings before the deadline.

The smart money suggests he's more likely to be a new Rhys Griffiths.
The fact that I've greeted this news with a resounding shrug of my shoulders tells me a lot about how I'm feeling about the club going into a new season. I used to care about new signings, look forward to the pre season friendlies and plan my year around Argyle matches.
These days, such is the lack of ambition and, more disgracefully, interest, being shown by the owner that I'm of the view that as the bloke who owns the club doesn't give two shits, why should I? I'm sure David Ijaha has many admirable qualities, but as an indicator of where Argyle stands in the footballing scheme of things, his recruitment points to a club that is accepting of League Two mediocrity, has no ambition and is content to bounce around the lowest professional league in the country in perpetuity.
I wish David Ijaha well. I bet he can't believe his luck, but his presence in the squad shows me where this club is going.
on reflection and also Having not seen him play i'm going to reserve judgement on his signing till he gets a few games under his belt. Nowt wrong with signing non league players after all as im sure many are in agreement here so im prepared to see how he does but im not expecting him to be anywhere near noone or jamie vardy in terms of the impact he will make.
