No doom, no gloom. I think you were hoodwinked into thinking that Exeter City would be going for their fourth consecutive attempt to move out of Division Two (and of course I'd be delighted for you to reveal your source of information). As to "the wheelchair parade down the wharfs" which wharfs were you thinking about? Realistically City will have an uphill task to reach the play-offs again this year, but at least they have an infrastructure that will allow the Club to develop further both on and off the pitch, and a club in which real fans have an opportunity to play a part in the development of that infrastructure. Moreover there's a £3.4 million development of the ground that has come in on time, on budget and at no cost to the Club. How is your redevelopment going? How 'democratic' is your Club? Sorry to ask these questions, but it does seem to me, reading the Democratic website that you have exchanged one deluded Chairperson for another and a manager who has a comfortable and unassailable position. |

This "jog on" you refer to; is this some sort of Plymouthian expression? As to "reality setting in", it'd be interesting to know your source. I don't think that any Exeter City supporter thought that the transitions from one manager with a 12 year history at the Club to another taking his first steps in management would be an easy transition and so it is proving. It doesn't detract from the fact that looking in at Argyle Talk Democratic you seem to have exchanged one self seeking management for one which believes that everything in the Argyle set up is perfect and that the road to salvation is following the route so clearly laid out by the creative genius who has led Argyle to its present position in both the league and the redevelopment of the ground. Just a few late evening thoughts. |

| Now that the old folk have got somewhere to sit down the attendances have rocketed, a pinch over 3000 home fans bothered to turn up to watch them square off with high flying Macclesfield |

| Would now be a bad time to mention that Exeter won at Oldham today with Jayden Stockley scoring a hat trick? I only mention it as a relief from the doom and gloom that seems to be enveloping your forums. |

| I can't help but notice that Exeter City won again today and that Plymouth Argyle lost again. Do Argyle actually have a defensive players on the pitch? |

| Good win for Exeter yesterday, but why the crowd boycott ? less than six thousand to watch a local derby on a lovely day what happened ? |

| Extrapolating figures from the population of Plymouth, why weren't there 23000 at Home Park for your recent home games? I think the answer is easily deductible from the quality of the entertainment being served up at the theatre of dreams. That and the inability to defend. Wombles second goal was a gift, surely? |

Argyle are shit on and off the pitch no denying that, but why did high flying Exeter get such a poor crowd for a home game against a local rival ? |

Partly, I would imagine because Public Transport is sparse on Bank Holidays, no GWR trains on the branch lines, no south western trains from Yeovil. Added to which the combined population of Exeter and Yeovil is 174,000 as compared to the wart that is Plymouth at 234,000, so Argyle's crowds ought to consistently be about 15,000 - but you explain why they're not. Of course the crowd at St James park exceeded that of the AFC Wimbledon v Plymouth game, so attendance at the newly refurbished SJP wasn't too shabby given those circumstances. |

That's very good. However, in the cold light of day we would merely call it keeping abreast of the times. Meanwhile, have our greenie chums considered one-way tickets to Switzerland yet? |

| Somewhat perverse I think to make both of the above comments in a forum entitled "The laughing at Exeter as they go down thread" since the outcome of the game last night moved the Club up the league table, rather than going down. I'd also observe that 6 of last night's team were under 23, and that just at the moment with injuries to more senior players City are having to rely on players, many of who have come through the Academy, to carry on with the move towards securing a play-off place. The Academy has and is producing players who move seamlessly into the first team squad, not something that is a noticeable attribute at Argyle recently. |

In one respect, it’s admirable that your Academy in effect keeps the club afloat. But on the other hand if just keeping you afloat is all it does - and lets remember Academy sales have never propelled you anywhere of note League-wise, you are still in tier4 - you really can’t afford a barren run of sell-worthy kids or your next non-league spell won’t be far away. It’s depressing most of the time being an Argyle fan, but as the old saying goes, there is always someone worse off than you. |
