Thank you so much Pat. I don't normally respond to village idiots but being a Sunday and just waved goodbye to grand-daughter I'm feeling childish. Surprised at your pen name of PatDunne! He could catch a ball whereas the only thing you can probably catch is the school bus .. with help on getting dressed. I know it says you're 55 but maybe you're just a late starter in life. You need to get my pen name correct before being a keyboard warrior. Snags reading and writing? Oh well you can practise tomorrow at school. Bye Bye Only two types of people at sea Tony, wankers and liars. Ere' Seadog - I'm no longer at sea. Did my time and bailed out. Liars? My first ever solo watch was through the Dover straights and the bosuns mate said ''if we go faster Sir we'll be through quicker'' I said ''Great but the skipper will hear the bell when I crank up the engines'' Bosuns Mate stood up and unscrewed the cover on the bell and stuffed a cloth in. ''He won't now Sir'' Easy!!!! |

| Feckin tight for third place, sort of run in that could be made or broken by one moment of madness and a sending off.

| We could draw once and finish 2nd or win three times and finish 4th!
God alone knows what the required target is going to be but we have to assume that we need to win every game which makes it 86 points.
84 points might do it.
Anything less looks very unlikely to be enough. |

| For 83 points to be enough we'd need 2 of either Accrington or Oxford to get fewer than 5 points and Rovers to get fewer than 9 points.
And even then we might be relying on goal difference with both Oxford and Rovers having better GDs right now.
So unless we dish out a serious tonking or two (or three!) I'm doubtful.
Any defeat for any of us will probably be a crushing blow.
It's tighter'n a mackerel's arse. |

| I'm completely resigned to the play-offs. Anything else is fantasy. There is no way Accy and Oxford are going to drop anymore points now with only 3 games to go. Ultimately we can't be expected to compete with Accy and their 1500 crowds.

| Oxford we will catch IMO and I think well stay ahead of Rovers, Cambridge is the bogey team that worries me. Lose to them, beat the other two and its playoffs because of GD. |

Agree. Oxford fans must be crying into their beer after the last 2 games. Rovers had a wobble last night. If we win the next 2 - Cambridge will be tough - could see us needing a point to be certain on the last day. |

| Well it looks like we have a guaranteed playoff spot with either Oxford or Rovers and Pompey and Wimbledon to make the members up. I don't fancy playing any of them tbh. |

| On today's showing the playoffs will be a massacre, I still can't believe we've conceded 3 against that shower. |

| The best we can hope for now is a high playoff place so we get the second leg at home. Trouble is, the tie may well be all over by the time we get to Home Park. |

| Nah it's at HP we get the problems. Makes you wonder if it's the home crowd that have been trained to expect defeat over a five or six year period that then get on the backs of the players making their heads drop? |

| [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Somewhere between 68-71 points turned out to be the play-off target. Somewhere between 83-86 points turned out to be the promotion target. Somewhere between 85-88 points turned out to be needed to be Champions. |

| This is probably as good a place as any to park this - what is described as 'a footprint of the season' or which position in the table a club spent their time.
As can be seen we spent the second most time at the summit and only three (count 'em) days outside the top seven - no team except Portsmouth (who spent eight days outside the promotion/ playoff places) went lower.
It's all a bit depressing as it's shows our fall as we progressively spent less days in each position as we fell away over the last few months. Bristol Rovers were the lucky ones come seasons end though you don't need stats to realise that, but Accrington were never really a top three side either.
It's got all the tables - scroll down for division four.

| We have played 27 games and have 54 points. Recycling this from last year: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Obviously we ultimately failed and last season these totals were needed: play-offs 70 points (Orient in 8th ended up on 69) promoted 85 points (Bristol Rovers, who went up, tied with Accrington, who did not) champions 87 points (Northampton won with 99 points, Oxford were runners-up with 86) 31 points in our final 19 games, making 85 in total, should see us promoted this time. 10W + 1D 9W + 4D 8W + 7D Play-offs (70 points) 5W + 1D 4W + 4D 3W + 7D 2W + 10D 1W + 13D Champions (87 points) 11W 10W + 1D etc |
