Triple fitness boost for Plymouth Argyle manager Derek Adams
Hiram Boateng was injured in Argyle's 2-0 win against Morecambe at the end of October
Manager Derek Adams is relieved the injury crisis at Plymouth Argyle appears to be easing at last.
Goalkeeper Luke McCormick and star striker Reuben Reid are set to return to training next week, while scans have shown that centre-back Peter Hartley does not have a broken foot, only bruising.
However, on-loan midfielder Hiram Boateng has returned to Premier League club Crystal Palace for treatment to his leg injury.
Argyle are also assessing the fitness of Oscar Threlkeld, who hobbled out of the 1-1 draw against Leyton Orient at Home Park on Tuesday night.
Threlkeld, the loan signing from Bolton Wanderers, suffered a leg injury when he was fouled by Orient goalscorer Jay Simpson in the first half.
Midfielder Carl McHugh returned to action for Argyle in that game after sitting out the 2-1 defeat by Exeter City in the Devon derby last Saturday because of hamstring trouble.
Now there is positive news about McCormick, Reid and Hartley, although the temporary departure of Boateng is a blow.
Adams told Herald Sport: "I have been extremely annoyed at the amount of time that they have taken, but we are getting there.
"To have as many senior players out at the same time is not very helpful.
"It's a long season and we are going to try to get to the halfway point and assess things, and then see where we go from there."
Table-topping Argyle will play the 20th of their 46 games in League Two on Saturday when they are away to Dagenham and Redbridge at Victoria Road (3pm).
The Pilgrims retained a two-point lead over second-placed Oxford United after their draw against Orient.
Boateng, 19, had been an ever present this season until he was hurt in the 2-0 victory over Morecambe at Home Park on October 31.
Adams said: "He's away back to Crystal Palace. They are looking after him.
"He's going to be with them until he's able to start training. He's being assessed by their medical staff."
Boateng's loan deal is set to end after Argyle's away game against Carlisle United on January 2.
Adams was unsure when Boateng would be ready to return to training but added: "We speak to Crystal Palace twice a week."
McCormick has missed the last two matches because of a groin injury, with Christian Walton brought in on loan from Championship club Brighton and Hove Albion to replace him.
Reid has not played since the 1-0 win against Accrington Stanley at Home Park on October 17 because of a hip flexor problem.
Hartley had also been an ever present for the Pilgrims this season until he suffered a foot injury in training last week.
Adams said: "He's only got bruising to his foot, no break or anything, so he will be back very soon into action."
Centre-back Luke Croll was signed on loan from Crystal Palace last Friday after the injury to Hartley.
Croll has started the last two games alongside captain Curtis Nelson,
Adams said: "We have got competition now, which is good. You need that in your squad."
Threlkeld did not take part in training yesterday after his injury against Orient but Ben Purrington was involved in the session.
Purrington was not among the Argyle substitutes in midweek because of a back spasm. |

| No. It'll be all you dyed in the wool life time Landaners/Essex boys turning up for your local team, Daggenham, that is. Say hello to Tisdale when you see him. As for the Ronnie thing, I think some people are getting mixed up with mauge and mauve. Easy mistake. |
