It's every overgrown schoolboys' dream to 'be someone' at their local football club. The reluctant one merely sussed that weakness from the outset. Hence his loyalty to nool and where's webby, the protective Aviva shield they draped around him in return and the endless procession of 'volunteers', jostling for position in tents, rattling buckets and generally doing everything they can to please the fine gentleman. It gives him a free ride until he can cash in. |

Give the plebs the keys to the train set and they'll do anything for a fine gentleman.
' I see 'Jon b' was correctly identified by some on here, as a man on a mission in the little Argyle world and has used his corporate governance [bollox] skills, to worm his way into the club as secretary. Also heartwarming to see the trust leader smiling lovingly at the fine gentleman, to earn his place in the DB.
How desperate to 'be someone' at HP people are and how well the puppet master plays them, in order to do his worst for PAFC.

Just goes to show, if you arselick the right people with unerring consistency, you can fall into a job despite not having any previous experience of the post, certainly at professional level. Who can forget the cringeworthy efforts of Back and Hooper, posting on ATD when they were desperate to get a foothold in the club via the GAS Board. As you say Tring, is was quite evident to a few of us. |

| Far Post was never the same after the death of Gordon Ward and his Wife Shirley finally stepping down in 2001. The day she left and that George took over was the last day I worked when I found him skulking in the Carsie everytime it got busy. There was an amazing story around Dan MaCauley and Shirley Ward which was never known outside of myself, fellow Bar Tenders and her own family after Gordons death. Real human kindness Mac went up in my estimation 100000% |

| I only drank in there 3 or 4 times over the years but it always felt a bit cliquey to me and smelled of old people, mind you that was 20 - 30 years back and when you're a kid everyone seems old I suppose. |
